AMENDING ORDINANCE 022075 BY ADJUSTING SINGLE MEMBER
DISTRICT LINES TO INCLUDE ANNEXED TERRITORY; PROVIDING FOR
SUBMISSION OF THE ADJUSTED SINGLE MEMBER DISTRICT LINES
FOR PRECLEARANCE FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF
JUSTICE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi adopted Ordinances 022267, 022337,
022383, 022441, 022617, and 022796 which annexed various territory into the City limits;
WHEREAS, it is necessary to identify the single member districts into which the
annexed territory lies;
WHEREAS, single member district lines must coincide with precinct lines and
territory annexed within precincts must remain contiguous with adjoining precincts and
single member districts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance 022075 is hereby amended to incorporate the newly
annexed territory and the district boundaries of said districts are hereby amended and
adopted as the new single member district boundaries as set out on the map attached as
Exhibit "A";
SECTION 2. That the City Secretary is directed to request approval by the United
States Department of Justice by the submission of any change provided herein which
requires preclearance, and providing such demographic data and information as required
by law.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, copy
attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action
necessary for the efficient and effective administration of city affairs, such finding of an
emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the charter rule as to
consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 2 /

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, an
emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances at two regular meetings; I/we, therefor, request that you suspend said
Charter rule and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present
meeting of the City Council.
