HomeMy WebLinkAbout022874 ORD - 03/18/1997AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL GOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY TO JOINTLY PROVIDE A VEHICLE, COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT, AND STAFF FOR A MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS CENTER; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi a Political Subdivision of Texas, pursuant to the authority granted by Chapter 791 Government Code, V.T.C.A., as amended, desires to participate in an interlocal governmental agreement with the Regional Transportation Authority ("RTA") to jointly provide a vehicle, communications equipment, and staff for a mobile communications center to help coordinate and disseminate information during an emergency. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager, or designee, is hereby authorized to execute an interlocal agreement with the RTA to jointly provide a vehicle, communications equipment, and staff for a mobile communications center as set out in the Agreement, a copy of which is on file with the City Secretary. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that ,�oQrdinance i i assed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the aft) Day of1' IP Cfl , 1997.
