AMENDING THE SCHEDULE OF WATER RATES IN SECTION 55-50,
CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, ELIMINATING
DECREASING BLOCK WATER RATES FOR LARGE VOLUME
COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL USERS, ESTABLISHING A NEW
RATE CLASS FOR THOSE USERS, AND ESTABLISHING A FLAT WATER
RATE FOR SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS WITH
CONSUMPTION UP TO 15,000 GALLONS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 55, Utilities, Article III, Water
Rates and Charges, Section 55-50(a), on file with the City Secretary, is revised to read as
follows:
Sec. 55-50. Schedule of water rates.
Effective Date: January 1, 1997
(a) Base rates for water service.
The rates for water service are as follows:

complex into a single account that will bill the customer based on the total volume of water used
at the complex. However. the Large volume customers with more than one meter shall pay an

Treated water rates purchased by a public agency for resale are hereby set
as follows:

Large Volume Customers
A commercial customer who agrees to pay for a minimum of 10.000 000
gallons of treated water per month is considered a 1 rge vol ,me customer
Once a customer has elected to become a large volume customer. the
customer will be billed as a large volume cu tomer until he customer
notifies the City and requests reclassification as a commercial customer in
writing. However. a commercial customer may not elect to become a
large volume customer more than once in any 12 month period

SECTION 2. That the additional rate increases provided in Section 5 of Ordinance
021814 on December 14, 1993, shall apply to the rates for water service in Section 55-50(a) of
the Code of Ordinances, as amended by Section 1 of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word
or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a
court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City
Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be
given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 4. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus
Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
