HomeMy WebLinkAbout022939 ORD - 05/27/1997AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING A GRANT OF $50,460 FROM THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT, OFFICE OF NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL POLICY IN THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATE GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE CORPUS CHRISTI POLICE DEPARTMENT TO SUPPORT ITS ROLE IN THE TEXAS COASTAL CORRIDOR INITIATIVE IN THE HOUSTON HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA INITIATIVE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That a grant of $50,460 from the Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy is appropriated in the No. 162 Federal/State Grants Fund for use by the Corpus Christi Police Department to support its role in the Texas Coastal Corridor Initiative in the Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Initiative. SECTION 2. That this grant will be used by the Corpus Christi Police Department to support its role in the Texas Coastal Corridor Initiative in the Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Initiative by funding the salary for a part time criminal intelligence analyst, overtime for two Corpus Christi Police Officers, investigative travel, cellular phones, pagers, computer equipment, office supplies and equipment. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is assed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the af%fi1 day of , 1997.
