HomeMy WebLinkAbout022960 ORD - 06/17/1997AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY'S CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 53 -- TRAFFIC, AMENDING SECTION 53-255, SCHEDULE VI, DECREASE OF STATE LAW MAXIMUM SPEED, BY REDUCING THE SPEED LIMIT ON ALAMEDA STREET BETWEEN TEXAN TRAIL AND ROPES DRIVE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:00 A.M. AND 6:00 P.M. WHEN DESIGNATED BY FLASHERS; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances, Chapter 53,Traffic, Section 53- 255, Schedule VI, Decrease of state law maximum speed, is amended as follows: Section 53-255. Schedule VI, Decrease of state law maximum speed. It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that, the speed permitted by state law upon the following streets is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets and it is hereby declared that the speed limit shall be as herein set forth on those streets or parts of streets herein designated at the times specified when signs are erected giving notice thereof: Alameda Street: From Texan Trail to Ropes Drive-- 20 mph- between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p m. when flashers are operating designating such speed. SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 3. A violation of speed limits may result in a citation being issued and a fine being assessed.
