HomeMy WebLinkAbout022995 RES - 07/22/1997A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE NUECES COUNTY COMMISSIONER'S COURT TO LEVY AN OPTIONAL COUNTY FEE FOR CHILD SAFETY OF $1.50 PER VEHICLE REGISTERED IN NUECES COUNTY, PURSUANT TO SECTION 502.173 OF THE TRANSPORTATION CODE. Recitals The Transportation Code, Section 502.173, authorizes an additional fee of not less than $.50 or more than $1.50 for registering a vehicle in each county. Each county may deduct administrative expenses of not more than 10% of the revenues from the additional fee; the remaining revenue is apportioned among the cities and unincorporated areas on a population basis. If the $1.50 fee is adopted, estimated revenues are $345,000, with the City's share being $275,000, after deducting the 10% administrative costs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That City Council is requesting the Nueces County Commissioner's Court to levy an Optional County Fee for Child Safety of $1.50 per vehicle registered in Nueces County, authorized by Section 502.173 of the Transportation Code.
