ENDORSING TWO CITY GRANT APPLICATIONS TO THE
COASTAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR IMPROVEMENT
PROJECTS CONSISTENT WITH THE CORPUS CHRISTI
COASTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN; AND AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO SUBMIT THE CITY'S TWO
GRANT APPLICATIONS.
WHEREAS, the State of Texas will be distributing additional grant cycle funds from the
U.S. Department of Commerce -National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for
implementation of state Coastal Management Programs; and
WHEREAS, the Coastal Coordinating Council of the Texas General Land Office
administers the Texas Coastal Management Program; and
WHEREAS, the Coastal Coordinating Council has pledged to distribute federal funds
awarded to Texas to eligible entities in the coastal zone for projects that implement the Coastal
Management Program goals and policies, including wetland enhancement, shoreline access
improvements, waterfront revitalization, environmental data base development, etc.; and
WHEREAS, the applications must be received by August 1, 1997 and require a 30% local
match, which may be in-kind services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby endorses the two City grant applications for 1)
Construction of a parking facility adjacent to the Padre Island Seawall and 2) acquisition of property
for Blucher Park.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, or designee, is hereby authorized to submit these grant
applications to the Coastal Management Program.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas this
