Texas State Rally, Inc., a company organized by a division of Harley-Davidson Motor Company, is staging this year's Texas State Harley -Owners Group Rally in Corpus Christi. Festivities will include an evening of dining and entertainment on Chaparral Street. The special events/street closing process will be used to provide a centralized parking area for participants' motorcycles during the evening of September 5 and early morning of September 6. The rally sponsor indicates that Harley-Davidson Motor Company does not sponsor user -group street festivals and will not provide liability insurance for associated street closings and festivities. Because this temporary street closure will involve no street festivities, vendors, sales of goods, or uses of public right-of-way other than for motorcycle parking, the city will not require the liability insurance customarily obtained in accordance with Corpus Christi Code Section 49-17(c). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Corpus Christi Code Section 49-17(c)'s liability insurance requirement is removed as it relates to the permit for the temporary closing of Chaparral Street between John Sartain Street and Starr Street on September 5 and 6, 1997 for the Harley -Owners Group Rally. SECTION 2.
