AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER
9, SECTION 9-61, PERMIT FOR GROUND TRANSPORTATION
OPERATIONS, BY REVISING THE METHOD OF CALCULATING FEES
AND ADDING NEW FEES; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECIVE DATE OF
FEBRUARY 1, 1998; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances, Chapter 9, Section 9-61, is
amended as follows:
Sec. 9-61. Permit for eentritettiftl ground transportation operations.
(a) Except for duly franchised airport shuttle and limousine services it is unlawful for any
person to charge, operate, or drive, for hire or other consideration any vehicle to carry,
deliver, pick up any cargo, passenger, freight including air carrier lost baggage, or mail at the
Corpus Christi International Airport without a valid permit issued by the airport for
commercial ground transportation operations ("Ground Transportation Permit"). Each
applicant for a Ground Transportation Permit shall register with the Director of Aviation and
comply with all rules and regulations set by the City of Corpus Christi.
(b)
Except for the franchised airport shuttle and limousine services, each person operating a
ground transportation service at the airport shall pay permit fees at the rates set forth in the
following schedule, the calculation based on total passengers or cargo and the average
number of permitted taxicabs, cargo vehicles, and courtesy vehicles will be administratively
recalculated each December to set the monthly payments for the next year.

$0.05 times the total number of enplaned and deplaned revenue passengers for

Vehicles"fee per vehicle is the product of $0.01 per pound of cargo times the
total pounds of cargo for the preceding year divided by 12 months divided by
the average number of permitted pick up/delivery vehicles for the preceding
year. [E.g. 1.000 000 pounds of cargo for 1996 x $0.01 - 12 months = 25
average number of permitted pick up/delivery vehicles for 1996 = $33 per
month per pick up/delivery vehicle]

make advance arran•ements with the Ai .ort Administrati.n Office •rior to
arrival at the airport.

(c) The Director of Aviation or successor official shall issue Ground Transportation
Permits, enforce all rules and regulations with respect to ground transportation
services, and collect applicable permit fees. Should any permit holder fail to comply
with applicable rules, regulations, and ordinances, such permit holder shall be issued
a notice of noncompliance. Should the violation persist for ten (10) days after the
issuance of said notice, such permit holder may be prohibited from conducting
further operations on airport property.
SECTION 2. This ordinance becomes effective February 1, 1998.
SECTION 3. Publication will be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi
as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
