HomeMy WebLinkAbout023065 RES - 09/23/1997RESOLUTION # A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, APPROVING THE PERMIT APPLICATION AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT AND PURSUE THE APPLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO THE TEXAS NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION COMMISSION (TNRCC) FOR A PERMIT FOR A NEW MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE FACILITY, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE THE CITY'S ENGINEER(S) OF RECORD AND AGENT(S) OF RECORD FOR A PERMIT FOR A NEW MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE FACILITY WHEREAS, the new municipal Corpus Christi Solid Waste Facility will be located in the County of Nueces, Texas; AND WHEREAS, the new City of Corpus Christi Municipal Solid Waste Facility is in accord with the Coastal Bend Council of Governments' Regional Solid Waste Management Plan; AND WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi has developed a municipal solid waste management facility permit application to comply with the requirements of the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission's regulations mandated by the Texas Solid Waste Disposal Act and Subtitle D of the Federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; AND WHEREAS, a municipal solid waste management facility which complies with Subtitle D is needed to meet the region's growing solid waste demands, to ensure the protection of the public health, safety and welfare and to protect the environment; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi has reviewed the plan for the new City of Corpus Christi Municipal Solid Waste Management Facility and strongly supports this plan and the permit application; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS: That the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi approves the permit application; authorizes the City Manager, or his designee, to submit and pursue the permit application, designate Engineer(s) and Agent(s) of record for the new Municipal Solid Waste Management Facility; and hopes that the Commission will expeditiously process and approve the application. iii;hUFYLMED ATTEST: Armando Chapa, City Secre ary T111,0V OF C��SJC��GTI Mayor APPROVED: M DAY OF Set, tea c , 1997.
