HomeMy WebLinkAbout023158 ORD - 12/09/1997AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING A FY 97 WEED AND SEED GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($300,000) IN THE FEDERAL/STATE GRANT FUND NO. 162 RECEIVED FROM THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO SUPPORT ACTIVITIES OF THE LOCAL WEED AND SEED PROGRAM BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That a FY 97 Weed And Seed Grant in the amount of Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000) in the Federal/State Grant Fund No. 162 received from the U. S. Department of Justice is hereby appropriated to support activities of the Local Weed And Seed Program by the Department of Housing and Community Development. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, and to meet the grave emergency created by severe drought to immediately make available new water supplies to Corpus Christi and its water service area, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that thisordinance passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the of h day of Nfli 7 Ch , 19 q 7.
