AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE A
ONE-YEAR INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE REGIONAL
TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY IN CORPUS CHRISTI TO UTILIZE FUNDS
AVAILABLE IN THE TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE FUND.
WHEREAS, on December 18, 1991 the Board of Directors of the Regional Transit
Authority of Corpus Christi (RTA) adopted an action establishing a Transportation Assistance
Fund, to provide a portion of the RTA money to the RTA service cities for each entity's
transportation -related programs; and
WHEREAS,the RTA adopts its annual budget in December, the City of Corpus Christi
(City) must provide the RTA with a Schedule A that details the transportation activities on which
it will spend its portion of the RTA Transportation Assistance Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager, or designee, is authorized to execute an Interlocal
Agreement with the RTA, a substantial copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof
marked Exhibit "A".

REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT
(Transportation Assistance Fund)
This Interlocal Agreement is made between the Regional Transportation Authority in
Corpus Christi, Texas ("RTA"), a metropolitan transit authority operating under Chapter
451 of the Texas Transportation Code, and the City of Corpus Christi, Texas (the "City"),
a municipal corporation.
WHEREAS, on December 18, 1991, the Board of Directors of the RTA adopted an action
calling for the establishment of a Transportation Assistance Fund, to include all cities in
the RTA service area and Nueces County, and the proceeds from the Fund designated to
be utilized by each entity toward its transportation -related programs; and,
WHEREAS, estimates of the amounts to be distributed pursuant to this action are
tentatively included in the RTA's budget for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the percentages or amounts to be distributed shall be determined annually
by RTA as part of its operating budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT AGREED BY THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION
AUTHORITY AND THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Proposal for expenditure of Transportation Assistance Funds. No later that
December 31, 1997, the City shall submit the attached Schedule A, specifying the
project(s) for which the 1998 Transportation Assistance Funds will be expended.
To the extent feasible, the City shall coordinate with overlapping jurisdictions any
transportation -related programs or projects which will maximize the impact of the
Transportation Assistance Fund. RTA shall be notified, in writing, of any use that
differs from the proposed projects or activities on Schedule A.
Failure to submit the attached Schedule A on or before December 31, 1997 shall
render the City ineligible to participate in the Fund for 1998, and the funds to which
the City would have been entitled shall revert to RTA for general operations.
Funding. RTA agrees to distribute the sum representing the City' s proportionate
share in a percentage of RTA's actual 1998 sales tax receipts. The estimated total
distribution will be $652,000. The actual amount is subject to the budget adopted
for 1997, and actual RTA sales tax receipts. Payment shall be made to the City as
soon as practicable after each quarterly payment for the State Comptroller of Public
Accounts, out of current revenues available to the RTA.

Interlocal Cooperation Act. This Agreement is subject to the terms and provisions
of the Texas Interlocal Cooperation Act, codified as Chapter 791 of the Texas Local
Government Code. In accordance with the provisions of said Act, the term of this
Agreement is limited in duration to the current fiscal year of the RTA.
