APPROPRIATING $499,848.88 FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS,
CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IN THE
NO. 1061 POLICE GRANT FUND TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT AND
SWORN OFFICER OVERTIME IN AN EFFORT TO DISRUPT GANGS
AS WELL AS THE TRAFFICKING OF ILLEGAL DRUGS,
CONTRABAND, AND HUMAN BEINGS; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That $499,848.88 is appropriated from the State of Texas, Criminal
Justice Division of the Governor's Office in the No. 1061 Police Grant Fund to
purchase equipment and sworn officer overtime in an effort to disrupt gangs as well as
the trafficking of illegal drugs, contraband, and human beings; and declaring an
emergency.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the
City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate
action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends
that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two
regular meetings, so that this ordinance is p ssed and takes effect as an emergency
measure upon its first reading, this the 40 day of April, 2010.

emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings: 1/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or
at the present meeting of the City Council.

drawn, and has not been appropriated for any other purpose. Future payments are subject to
