revenues from last year's operating budget as reflected in the
2017-2018 operating budget; and declaring an emergency
Whereas, Section 102.007 (c) of the Texas Local Government Code provides
that adoption of a budget that will require raising more revenue from property
taxes than in the previous year requires a separate vote of the governing body to
ratify the property tax increase reflected in the budget and that a vote under this
subsection is in addition to and separate from the vote to adopt the budget or a
vote to set the tax rate;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council ratifies the increase of$4,034,005 in property
tax revenues from last year's operating budget as reflected in the 2017-2018
Operating Budget.
SECTION 2. Upon the written request of the Mayor or five Council members,
copy attached, the City Council: (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the
need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration
of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and
voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed
and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this 26th day of
September, 2017.

or at the present meeting of the City Council.

Public Notice is hereby given
that the City Council of the
City of Corpus Christi will
hold a public hearing on the
FY 2017-2018 Proposed City
Operating Budget on August
29, 2017 during the Coun-
cil meeting beginning at
11:30 a.m. in the City Coun-
cil Chambers, 1201 Leop-
ard Street, Corpus Christi,
Texas.
This budget will raise more
total property taxes than
last year's budget by
$4,034,005 (General Fund
$2,506,865 Debt Service
Fund $1,527,140), or 3.7%,
and of that amount an esti-
mated$2,668,101 is tax rev-
enue to be raised from new
property added to the tax
roll this year.
