I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Garza at 5:30 p.m.and a quorum was declared.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. May 11,2011
Motion to approve the May 11, 2011 regular Planning Commission minutes was made by
Commissioner Tamez and seconded by Commissioner Nadkarni. Motion passed unanimously with
Vice-Chairman Huerta,Commissioner Martinez and Commissioner Adame absent.
Ill. PUBLIC HEARING AGENDA ITEMS
A. PLATS
1. Continued Plats
Wesley Vardeman, Development Services, read Continued Plats items "a" and "b" into record
(shown below) and staff stated the applicants requested the plats be continued to the June 8, 2011
regular Planning Commission meeting.

approval.

Commissioner Skrobarczyk. Motion passed unanimously with Vice-Chairman Huerta, Commissioner
Martinez and Commissioner Adame absent.
3. Time Extensions
Mr. Vardeman read Time Extensions items "a-d" into record (shown below) and staff
recommended approval of a twelve-month extension for item "a"and a six-month extension for items

Commissioner Skrobarczyk asked if a longer time extension can be granted and Miguel Saldafia,
Development Services, stated a preliminary plat was granted a twelve-month extension and a final plat
was granted a six-month extension per the ordinance.
The public hearing was opened with no one coming forward in favor or in opposition. The public
hearing was closed.

seconded by Commissioner Taylor. Motion passed unanimously with Vice-Chairman Huerta,
Commissioner Martinez and Commissioner Adame absent.
IV. PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION ITEM
A. AIR INSTALLATIONS COMPATABILITY USE ZONES (AICUZ)
STUDY
Donald Zimmerman,Community Plans and Liaison Officer for Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi,
presented the Air Installations Compatibility Use Zones study.
Chairman Garza asked if the aviation routes would interfere with the newly constructed student
apartments near the university and Mr. Zimmerman responded the structures were incorporated with
sound proofing as to not disrupt the students. Mr. Zimmerman added the parking garage was a
compatible development in relation to the Air Installations Compatibility Use Zones Study.
Commissioner Skrobarczyk asked if the presentation was on the CD given to the Commissioners
and Mr.Zimmerman answered that the presentation and documents were all available on the CD.
Commissioner Nadkarni commented on the issues with the Fire Station building on Ayers and
Saratoga in relation to the aviation routes.
Commissioner Taylor commented on the trailer park in Flour Bluff and Mr. Zimmerman
expressed concern for the high density of residents in the area because pilots would have very little
room to maneuver.

A brief discussion was held on the logistics of the zoning map change. The Commission
requested a courtesy email be sent when the maps were available online.
Commissioner Taylor asked about the joint meeting with City Council and Mr. Saldafia
responded the meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the City Council
Chambers.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
Motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Taylor and seconded by Commissioner Nadkami.
Motion passed unanimously with Commissioner Martinez and Commissioner Adame absent and
meeting was adjourned at 5:57 p.m.
