Community Opinion on litter in city: bad; I don't appreciate litter bugs; abundant; it's an issue; people should because it's bad for our environment...Community service, Cleaning downtown is a good start... PRIDE Meeting Minutes April 25,2014 (Most believe there should be an improvement in litter. Plastic bags were mentioned frequently. More recycling is needed.) There 3 generally more complaints than compliments. 4. Community Opinions on the meaning of PRIDE: we take pride where we live; having a clean city; having an organization that is actively working for the community... S. Ways to improve the environment: more cleanups; awareness- more recycling in schools; recycle glass and bottles, education, enforce current litter laws (beaches)... The demand was so high for the PRIDE bags and trash trucks that the committee ran out of supplies quickly. Iris suggested using something like a "prize wheel" where participants would need to answer a question to win a bag. If the contestant doesn't answer correctly they could win something like a sticker which could conserve supplies to last through an event. Laurie asked about upcoming events that the committee could participate. Russell-mentioned Adopt-a-Beach. Shred day at KIII news was mentioned. Christina asked about the next Glass Recycling date which is scheduled for May 10th at the Callalen Wal-Mart. The committee would like to advertize on the Committee's Facebook page.
