Picky Pete update-Christina/Iris Christina Hernandez discussed the Picky Pete campaign saying it was currently being reviewed for copyright infringement and is expected to roll out in the PRIDE Meeting Minutes May 30,2014 Fall. At this point there is no curriculum but they have been working on assisting as an initiative from the Mayor. Later in the meeting Kristina Leal, Chief of Staff for the City of Corpus Christi, arrived at the meeting to give an update. Kristina stated she had met with Georganne Gasaway, Whataburger, Dusty Durrill and Dr. Kim Bisell from Windsor Park to discuss the program. Kristina stated they have been looking into copyright infringements and have not run into any but still had some processes to go through. Kristina also discussed the Mayor's desire to have consistency with the program at all of the schools and that Dr. Bisell would be putting a kit together that could be taken to the elementaries, about 50 in all. They are hoping to start in August with the roll out. As a sponsor, Whataburger has agreed to provide wristbands up to $5,000 and coupons for Justaburgers. There was discussion about wrapping the Solid Waste Trucks and trash cans but there are other elements and current programs that need to be considered. Discussion was had about how it would work in the schools and that the creators wanted it to be really simple to administer. Bob asked what was the role of the PRIDE committee, in which, Kristina stated the Mayor thought there could be a recognition award that is given out to the students. Bob stated the PRIDE committee was ready to help in any capacity and would help with promotion. B. Green and Clean Award plans- Laurie/ Frank Frank Franklin has spoken to Brewsters Street Ice House, and they are not opposed to considering the award. Bob Copes explained that the last time he spoke to the Mayor, she suggested changing the frequency of the award to quarterly. The Mayor felt it would make the award feel more prestigious. Laurie Turner talked about having spoken with Howard's Barbeque in Flour Bluff and awarding them for June. The date has been set for June 10th and they have agreed to be there. Bob brought up changing the frequency of the award and doing it quarterly. He stated the committee could work on recipients or vote to do it quarterly. Frank Franklin moved to change the Green and Clean Award, effective in the 3rd quarter, to a quarterly award. Christina Hernandez seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. C. Community Outreach Subcommittee Meeting—Bill Meeting was held but several committee members who had wanted to attend were forced to cancel. The meeting will be rescheduled. D. Anti-Litter Ordinance Roll-out and PRIDE involvement— Lawrence Mikolajcyzk PRIDE Meeting Minutes May 30,2014 Lawrence gave a report on The Wrath campaign and it's roll-out to the community. The Wrath is the initial attention-seeking campaign and then in September is the call to action with "Leave It Better Than You Found It". During the summer, there will be radio promotions to push the mobile app "Stop The Wrath" and the Anti-Litter Campaign with additional promotions taking place on the beach. On the beach, large boxes with onion bags have been made available for people to use. For The Wrath Campaign, there are some box stores that are interested in participating. The target age is Males 18-34 which were found to be the highest litterers and this is who the app and promotions target. Bob asked if it was on the Clean City Facebook page and Lawrence replied it is on all the social media pages, advertising in the Mall and QR codes are posted everywhere. There is also a movie theater trailer and posters in the theaters. Lawrence explained that there are benchmarks that are monitoring and there was a previous survey that was done and is available. One place to send traffic to is leaveitbettercc.com. Internally there is also a pledge program with all City Employees that includes prize scratch-off cards given to those that take the pledge to keep a cleaner city. This is to encourage city employees to leave it better that you found it and that It Starts With Us. The committee asked if there were bumper stickers available to show employees that took the Pledge. Educator Dawn Stubblefield is also taking some of these things and blending it in with her curriculum when she takes it back to schools in the fall. Once we get past The Wrath program, we will roll out on the website tools for businesses to use and they can also use The Pledge in their own offices. Lawrence really needs the committee to help push the messages out to the community and will also help with the radio promotions. In addition, there are big belly solar powered trash cans that are being utilized that are linked to a computer to let us know when they are full. Huge amounts of signs that are being utilized with Parks and Recs that encourages people to keep their butts for an anti-smoking campaign. We are looking to increase awareness, increased street sweeping, monitoring of inlets and what runs into the bay. Lawrence asked for participation in remotes and help in monitoring the inlets. He is considering we will need to do one clean-up by The Seawall Restaurant which will require a bit of effort with kayakers and volunteers and monitoring of available low tides. E. Schedule for Subsequent Meetings— Bob discussed that in previous meetings a change in date and time had been discussed but the bulk of the people said it was fine the way it was so he recommended it stayed the same.
