V. Business for Discussion and Possible Action:
A. Green and Clean Update - Laurie
Bob Copes spoke of the presentation that was held during Council on June 10, 2014
to Howard's Barbeque. He stated the posting on Facebook was hugely read. Frank
Franklin stated that Brewster's Street Pub was slated for the next award in
September. Bob explained that currently there was no one heading up the
subcommittee and asked if Frank could do it on an interim basis, which he did agree
to. Bob stated he would like to reach out to other groups like Beautify Corpus Christi
(BCC) about a partnership. The BCC currently does a "Beauty Mark Award" and he
felt that there was no need for two, in which the committee agreed. Lawrence stated
he would talk to the group at their next meeting.
B. Anti-Litter Ordinance Activities- Lawrence/Celina / Brittney
Brittney discussed attendance of the Anti-Litter Campaign weekly meeting with
Bucketworks and the City. She felt there were lots of opportunities to partner and

coordinate, which she would oversee. She would also work on a calendar to make
available to all members that does not violate Open Records. She would also be
charged with posting to Facebook on behalf of the committee. Bob suggested that
the calendar include needed resources and a column that might include which
subcommittee should be addressed. He also felt the calendar should strictly be Pride
events. Discussions will be had with City Legal and the City Secretary's office
regarding group emails and documents.
Lawrence discussed the progress of the Stop the Wrath campaign and meetings that
were held with TAMU-CC and Del Mar College for their inclusion in the campaign.
Lawrence also spoke that a meeting would be held with local tire business owners to
get their input on an update to the City's tire ordinance. He is also working on a
special event ordinance that would include a one-stop shop for people looking to
organize a community event. People will have to register for a permit, and include a
litter plan for the event.
C. The Mayor's Picky Pete Press Conference Update—Christina/Iris/Kim
Bob reminded everyone that this event is on the top of the Mayor's mind and she
would like everyone's participation. There is a press conference that is being planned
for August 27th and details need to be worked on. Bob asked Lily Gonzalez to join the
subcommittee to offer her input towards the curriculum. Picky Pete is a brainchild of
the Durrell Foundation and the Mayor wants the City to be an active member of this.
Lily stated she needed a little more information about the program and wanted to
get a clear description as to what were the parameters. Christina Hernandez stated
Dr. Bissell did not want to make the program very rigid. In the past the program was
presented and it was up to the schools as to how it was structured. She estimated
that 15 schools have participated. Christina stated they were still working on getting
the image copyrighted and that she would follow-up with the Mayor's Chief of Staff,
Kristina Leal for more information.
D. The Mayor's Agnes-Laredo Corridor Block Walk—Christina/Kim/Bob
Bob spoke that the Mayor had a blockwalk about a year ago in the Agnes-Laredo
Corridor area and would like to go back to see if there has been any progress. She is
looking to have various businesses and leaders involved. She is looking at September
25th, early in the morning to go door-to-door. Bob asked if we could have a
questionnaire completed and asked if Kent Cooper could help with that. At the next
Mayor's meeting on July 10, 2014, Christina would be able to fill in for Bob, who will
be out of town.
E. Report from Community Outreach Subcommittee— Bob/Britney
The committee discussed that the Subcommittee still had not been able to meet but
they were aware of what the committee needed to do. They agreed that it was a
matter of finding opportunities with a productive use of time. Bob stated that Frank

was interested in outreach and Iris as well, if anyone else wanted to assist to let
Brittney know.
Bob also stated that he would like to consolidate the social media to Brittney to
make her the point of contact so that she can ensure the style and voice are
consistent.
F. Identify Agenda Items for July
At this point, Iris Martinez mentioned she would have to be resigning soon due to
acceptance of a new position out of town. Bob encouraged everyone to recruit for
new members due to vacancies.
Items identified—Subcommitee reports, Items to post on social media, and
developing schemes to increase online traffic.
