Having photos of youth submitting certificates to Whataburger was talked about and
it was decided that the Committee may have to stage some photos with youth that
have photo clearances.
B. The Mayor's Agnes-Laredo Corridor Block Walk—Celina
Bob discussed that the Block Walk has been moved to November and a firm date will
be discussed later. It was asked if we could move the date to the weekend in order to
gather more volunteers which will be looked into. Bob gave a description of the
program for the new committee members.
C. Report from Community Outreach Subcommittee—Britney
Brittney discussed events that they have been working on and ideas about new
projects which included handouts that presented the Pride Committee and possibly
bumper stickers. The Twitter account had to be changed to PRIDECCTX because we
were unable to get into the other account. They have been linked to the Facebook
page and passwords have been created for everyone to use. Laurie discussed other
initiatives including the handouts and a volunteer calendar. Paul discussed possibly
using Facebook events. There is also a Google calendar available. Bob expressed that
he would like a running list of events that is possibly 6-weeks out to keep everyone
informed and scheduled. Lily mentioned there would be a University Island Beach
Clean-up taking place on September 6, 2014 from 8:30a-12N.
D. Merging of Business Recognition Programs with Beautify Corpus Christi (BCC)-Celina
Celina discussed that the Beautify Corpus Christi Committee had a discussion about
combining the awards but the BCC members chose to keep their own award as a
beauty spot.
Bob asked if Celina could keep the Pride Committee current on projects and issues
from the Beautify Corpus Christi since she attends the meetings.
The next Green and Clean Award is scheduled to be awarded on September 9, 2014
during Council to Brewster Street Pub. Laurie suggested that we ask the Facebook
community to nominate areas for the future. Bob would like to work on getting more
input in the choosing of the next recipients. Celina brought up that the committee
may consider businesses that are tailored more to the "green" initiative other than
just the beautification. There was also discussion about recognizing Braselton Homes
for their green initiatives and possibly neighborhoods for their entire efforts but no
decisions were made. It was discussed that Paul would look a little deeper into
possible neighborhood recognitions, Pride in the Neighborhood.
Celina brought up that the Pride Committee now has a Partner In Pride Award that is
available to give out each year. This award would recognize groups of people that
have done things around the city.
