Adoption of Minutes for Sept 28 & Oct 25 Notes: S.Richards-Motion M.Minutaglio- Second IV. Public Comment Notes: Raquel Richardson- City Gas Dept, congratulated Pride Teams on successes_of Clean_Swee event. Fished to brief Pride of budget issues with the City of Corpus Christi and encouraged Pride to adopt and encourage"Shop Local" campaign on Pride social media outlets. M. Minutaglio asked Ms. Richardson to put together a one sheet for cony. Garrett Dorsey-AEP Energy+Star- interested in Pride. _ r Candy DeLeen-Diocese of Corpus Christi-will be working with Pride and Cily of Corpus Christi Solid Waste come Aprii regarding city's recycling initiatives. _ V. Business A. Updates: a Clean City/Pride Coordinator-Rudy Notes: Interviews had been conducted and offer will be made by week's end. o Picky Pete Program- Georgeann Gasaway Notes: On I/$109-Mr. Durrill and Georgeann will be in Austin presenting to Statewide School Districts. Locally Picky Pete has been adopted by Nueces County beaches and will be used in upcaming summer marketing campaign with the slogan: "Don't pass it up.nick it upl" o CC Clean Sweep After Action Report-Stacy Richards y Notes: 403 accounted/sigged gpRlications. Over 15 tons of debris 30 tires 3 refrigerators. W. Douglas thanked S. Richards for prompt thank you notes to sponsors and city ftartments-which were 32- for product, timer or services. City tricks picked up debris right after event culminated. R. Griffith spoke of two families that had seen the event the night before and showed up at Baker Middle School. M. Minuta lio visited 7 locations and commended volunteers and city departments for their volunteers, over time or flex time. Observations by all were that slow!y,we will create a culture change! K. Davidson s oke of the deferred maintenance list being a Qood start, but shouldn't be and does not feel that this is the group that Just picks MR trash, but to raise awareness. R. Ridlehuber wishes to focus on elementary schools,pta groups and neighborhood watch programs. P. Ramirez stated that the event itself built momentum. A. Rowe also hi li ted the successes of the E. Waste events. o Corpus Gus Notes: Contract revisions needed to be made between City and Corpus Gus. Marketing sub committee will be charged with usages. o City Wide Events/Initiatives R Meeting with Mayor Notes: W.Douglas M. Mcleod Sawyer and M. Minutaglio met with the!Mayor on several issues including: *engaging the Hispanic community-how they can get involved and support efforts. * not being complacent in between clean up events and not just focusing on quarterly_clean ups. *marketing and supporting the Adopt a Park progams * develop Pride awards-"Yard of the month" "business_o_f_the month" "city department of the month" *reaching out to the homeless rg_oups about uttering- including Mission 911, Metro Ministries Salvation Arm * hosRitality indus -taxi cab driver fact sheets erha s getting on the next CVB agenda to discuss... ■ Gardens at Cole Park-Daiquiri Notes: In partnership with Flint Hills Resources Community Action Council,Beautify Comus Christi, Corpus Christi Master Gardeners, City's Clean City Committee. D. Richard will forward modified plans to the Pride committee once it has been approved by the planning commission. Total cost will be about$35,0.00 with a five month design time. Most of the funds will come from the annual La Noche Bonita fundraiser- held Februga 26 2010. a Bay Area Fellowship initiative-Brandon Cunningham Notes: B Cunningham spoke of a meeting with A. Rowe and the Mayor_regarding an upcoming annual men's conference called`Be Bold" in which they were calling.on all the men of the city from all churches to participate in a day of service for the city of Ca us Christi. The event is for men and their sons or any man age 16 and older. They were to choose 5-10 separate proJects to do,_working in teams of 15 or more, focusing on city parks. Last year,men worked with Mission 911 to rebuild playground and worked on the CASA house The Conference is two days,the first is held at the church and the next is the day of service. Dates of event are Jmiipa 23 &24. ■ 500 Trees from John Wilbanks w/Landscape Direct called (903.574.9156)- Stacie Notes: The wish on behalf of the donor is that all trees will be planted in public places. Stacie and Parks dept will be researching where they will go, Trees will have to be planted in clusters and where there is generous irrigation due to the size of the trees. These trees will be used in the Day of Service in partnership with$a, Area ea-Fellowship church. R Official adopt-a-park ordinance will be In front of city council on December 15-Stacie Notes: Similar to Adopt a�.r dt. Will go to Council_in_December. F.. !s &Rec hopes to expand to "Adopt a Rec Center"where individuals will go and teach kids to playchess or coach basketball__ ■ yor`s Fitness Council- Rudy Notes: Going from taking pride in co uni _to taking pride in oneself. Mayor's Fitness Council will run similar to Pride Advisory Committee but has a budget due to PLant submitted by Governor's office. Co us Christi scored highest out of all Texas cities and was awarded$15,000 to get progMm started. Goals are to enhance awareness of existing healthy eating or ci ide events: Diabetes Walk. Conquer the Coast, Beach to Bay, etc.. B. Discussion of ongoing activities with possible action Notes: Due to vagge nature of agenda it Garza and K. Womack advised that the group not cover this C. Discussion of First Quarter Clean Sweep Date with possible action Notes: S. Richards moved that the group change the date of the First Quarter Clean Sweep from February to Janu=23 to lend supDort.to Bay Area Fellowships existing event. M.Peters-second. Motion passed.
