Airport Advisory Board
September 15, 1980
A inecting of the Airport Advisory Board was held in the airport manager's office on
September 15, 1980, with the following attendance: Hayden I-lead, chairman; Dick Bowers,
Pauline Glasson, and Clarence Priour, members; Mike Welch, Airport Transportation of
Corpus Christi; Douglas Matthews, Director of Public Utilities; and IV. D. Wilder,
Airport Manager, Mr. Head called the meeting to order at 3,32 p.m.
Mr. Priour made the motion that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as
written. Mrs. Glasson seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Mr. Welch told the board that in his opinion the limousine service would have to operate
in the future with vans to have a profitable operation. He said he was requesting that
the City pay Airport Transportation Company $5SO.00 per month for the paging service. lie
reported that there are so many calls every day for paging that his company could not
continue to provide the service at no charge. Mr. Priour made the motion, seconded by
Mr. Bowers, that the board recommend to the City Council that the City pay Airport
Transportation of Corpus Christi $550.00 per month for performing the paging service.
The motion passed unanimously.
The next item on the agenda was the status of commuter airline accounts. Mr. Wilder
reported that Tejas Airlines had promised to pay each month's current charges and
$750.00 per month on the past due balance. lie said they were not paying the fill]
amount of each month's charges. Mr. Bowers made the motion that the board recommend to
the City Council that tile City enforce the contract with 'rejas and they be given 30 (lays
to pay the full balance. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Glasson and passed unanimously.
Mr. Wilder informed the board that the airlines had a tentative meeting set for
September 25 for further negotiations on contracts. Mr. Matthews reported that a
presentation would be given to the City Council on the terminal building project. lie
said that tile present proposal would be to relocate the baggage claim on tile cast side
of the terminal building; extend the airline ticket counter wing to the west and put
Southwest in line with the other airlines; and to leave the present baggage claim
vacant for the present.
Mr. Matthews reported that the architects were studying the project of air conditioning
gatehouse one & two. The bids received fortis project were higher than anticipated.
Mr. Wilder reported that all the information for federal aid had now been submitted to
FAA and a grant offer should be forthcoming, and that the commercial ramp and parking
lot projects were coming along.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at ® p.m.
