The meeting was called to order at 3 : 30 P.M. Bert Beecroft made
a motion to accept its as written. Irving Dietz seconded the
motion. Minutes accepted.
DI,RE,CTOR- S REPORT
The Assistant Director stated that the City Manager and the
Director of Planning asked that committee members attend rotincil
meeting on 9-22-92 to voice their approval for the Land Use Draft
Plan with special emphasis on the Multi-modal Transportation
section .
A. construction Status Report: victor Gutierrez , Airport
Engineer, reviewed project status . The Video Display card
readers for the Security Access Control System have been
installed with exception of five still to be completed, Taxiway
A overlay project at 65% mark. The Beacon replacement project is
out for bids. Legal currently reviewing contracts . Anticipate
construction to start in 6 weeks . The Terminal/concourse Root
project approximately 68% complete . Anticipate completion in 3 to
4 months . Boiler/Cooling Tower replacement has Notice to Proceed
issued. Start date is estimated in 4-6 weeks . Phac,e I of the
Asbestos Abatement is completed. A pre-construction meeting will
be held 9-21-92 for the Revenue Control System. Start date for
this project is being delayed until Jan. 1 , 1993 to avoid
interruption of parking lot operations during the holidays
Report: Bonnie Allin reviewed "The Positive Side" report
with special emphasis on the Triennial Disaster Exercise . She
stated communications were a problem and needed some work. This
was the first full scale test on the 1180011 series radio system.
Sylvia Gulley also not that response time from ambulances was
slow.
C. P Status : The first and second reading at City Council
passed. The it reading will be on 9-22-92 . Overall very
positive reactions from City Council .

Mr. Adame asked about plans for increasing the parking lot
capacity. The Assistant Director stated that with funds
available from this years budget, new booths will be constructed
soon, using in-house labor as much as possible . Also Some
repairs to short term parking lot and as much as affordable in
the long term lot. Director anticipates increasing number of
parking slots with funds from next years budget.
Committee members asked about land purchase progress . This will
be discussed in more detail at next months meeting.
A meeting was held with the Convention and Visitors Bureau,
several committee members and other representatives of the
tourism industry of Corpus Christi with Mr. Noel Robin of the
Texas National Tour Facility of San Antonio, to discuss packaging
corpus Christi . very favorable reactions , Mr. Robin is not
planning to charge for developing this package and anticipates
having information ready for distribution in 3-6 months ,
Dan Pedrotti handed members a memo from David Conoly regarding
the committees role as addressed in the annual report tn City
council for review.
Mr. Dietz questioned progress on the "Muffin Monster" . Assistant
Director stated that Victor Guiterrez is working on draft plan
for relocation and reconstruction. Estimate start date in 3-6
months .
