HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Airport Board - 05/08/2002 MINUTES Corpus Christi International Airport Board Meeting May 8, 2002 Board Members Present Airport Staff Ed Hicks, Vice-Chair Dave Hamrick, Director of Aviation Ramiro Gamboa, Member Debra Keller, Manager of Admin./Finance Mark Mcycr, Member Mike Dunn, Maintenance Superintendent Frank "Rocco" Montesano, Member Gloria DeLeon, Management Assistant Jan Rehler, Member Glenn Lyons, Member Airport Construction Project Representatives Chuck Cazalas, Member Doug Ellis, Project Manager, DMJM Nelda Martinez, Member Board Members Absent Jerry Kane, Chair- excused Willard Hammonds, Member- excused Approval of Minutes The meeting was called to order by Vice-Chair Hicks. Vice-Chair Hicks called for a motion to approve the minutes of the Airport Board meeting held April 8,2002. Member Cazalas moved to approve the minutes. Member Gamboa seconded the motion. The minutes were approved as presented. Introduction of Guests Marcclino Sanchez, Program Director, FAA. Regina Grote, photographer, The Lost Colony#1, Ms. Grote presented the Board with examples of her artwork, for possible art ideas for the new terminal. Mr. Hamrick announced Mr. Glenn Lyons, newly appointed Board member replacing Member Alonzo. The Board welcomed Member Lyons. Action Items A. Motion recommending Resolution authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute a Memorandum of Agreement(MOA)between the Government of the United States of America and the City of Corpus Christi. Agreement requires City to provide armed law enforcement officers at Security Check Point during hours of operation; and for the Government to provide financial relief in the form of full or partial reimbursement to the City of Corpus Christi for its costs at the Corpus Christi International Airport in fulfilling Security Directive SD 1542-02-01. Mr, Hamrick explained that as a result of 911, TA is requiring that once the National Guard contract expires, the airport is to provide armed certified law enforcement officers at security checkpoints until Airport Board Minutes May 8, 2002 Page 2 of 2 the government hires federal law enforcement officers tom dated security checkpoints. By signing this agreement it allows them to reimburse the City for expenses incurred. After a short discussion, Vice-Chair Hicks called for a motion. Member Cazalas moved to approve this item. Member Rehler seconded the motion. The motion was passed. B. Motion recommending Ordinance authorizing the City Manager, or his designee, to execute Change Order 31 with Fulton/Coastcon, Inc., A Joint Venture, in the net amount of$63,257.13 for the Corpus Christi International Airport Terminal Project. This Change Order takes into account a deduction for scope of work completed in Change Order 22. Mr. Hamrick explained that Item B should be an Ordinance not a Motion. After a short discussion on this item, Vice-Chair Hicks called for a motion. Member Rehler moved to approve this item. Member Gamboa seconded the motion. The motion was passed. Terminal Construction Update Doug Ellis, Project Manger, DMJM, provided an update on the ten-ninal construction project. Director's Report Mr. Hamrick provided the Board an update on the following items- 1. Air Service Update 2. Commodore Aviation Project 3. Police and Fire Training Facility 4, Discussion was held on art work for the new terminal Board Comments and Adjournment Vice-Chair Hicks called for a motion to excuse Chair Kane and Member Hammonds. Plumbing electrical and HVAC installations are in progress in all areas. Metal studs walls are being erected in all areas of the Terminal. Installation of gypsum wall board is taking place in multiple areas. Installation of glass window and the rough in of fire sprinkler systems continues. Installation of the membrane roof on the Terminal continues. One existing chiller was relocated to the new Terminal.The slab of the cooling towers was poured. Insulation of exterior walls started. Elements of permanent electrical power source for the new Terminal are being energized. Signal and communication wiring is being installed. Canopy structural members are being erected.
