Years begins in May. All in good standing. UIRECTORIS REPORT: Mr. Beynon gave June statistics : decreased donations and impounds ( it is past: puppy/kitten season) ; more investigations ( excludes lb to cases ) ; bite cases slightly decreased; number of animals picked up unchanged; appears will cross fiscal year 1990-91 plateau of 50 , 000 calls and 20 , 000 euthanized. No new rabies cases reported. officer shortage due to vacations and Guard Duty, leaving Mr. Beynon in field more. Two out of 4 positiois have been filled. Will be ordering equipment new fiscal year 8-1-91; current shortages not hindering operation. Certificate of Occupancy for euthanasia !building was received 7-10-91; one year warranty on building. July 10-11 experienced vibration at AC facility due to nearby Javelina Plant blown compressor with subsequent burn-off . ordinance requiring animals to be 500 feet fzom food service areas was discussed regarding PANS Sunrise mall adoption booth. Councilman Guerrero sympathetic to PAWS and offered daily space, but no area in mall meets 500 foot crJ..teria. Mr. Beynon says footage requirement helps regulate flea markets . Special Events exemption to ordinance still has not been approved and even if it is, weekly booth would-not be a special event . Suggestion made for added exemption for charitable non-profit organizations , with Animal Control approval , Mr. French said the Board should. not be i:eluctant to make changes . When asked about recent circus ' s food concession, Mr. Beynon said he was not aware of Circus event until it was over. Food-service Advisory committee recommendation necessary for any ordinance footage changes related to food service . Mr. Gi-eenburg was complimented on his great 6-25-91 City Council presentation-regarding need for facility gates and another AC officer; Council is considering request. He showed letter of thanks from City Manager. Dr. Sisley submitted same request to City Manager; it is also in budget request . mayor Phodes was on Katherine Childers TV Show when call came in about need for more AC officers; Mayor will address it . Mr. ynon told about a cat and a 13 year old dog being held at AC facility; they , are involved in a divorce custody case; animals were taken in for their sake--not the peoples; dog is hers and cat is community property; will need court order to release animals . City is caught in middle regarding release. Divorce judge will be contacted to make release decision . Pet Hot Line now involved. TV did story. Ms . Penuel complimented AC for good fast service on a call . Dr. SiSley said sometimes hard to pick up wild stray animals as they are cunning.
