members were in good standing. Barbara Airheart requested an excused absence for the January meeting,
and Drew Reining also requested an excused absence for the January meeting, as she was attending her
father's funeral in California. Both requests were approved.
Supervisor's Report: Jeff Beynon gave the January monthly report. Mr. Beynon stated that the numbers
of impounded cats and opossums was slightly up due to an increase in trapping. Investigations were up
slightly due to cold weather. Citations issued were up mainly due to finding dogs without shelter.
Citation revenue was up due to court case findings. Euthanization numbers were up. Animal Control had
9 chickens and roosters, 3 horses, 1 rabbit, 7 goats and 1 kid which was born at the shelter during the
month.
Rabies Report: Given by Jeff Beynon. During the month of January, no rabies cases were reported in
Region 11. The rabies vaccine drop was carried out mainly along the Mexico/Texas border.
Open Discussion: Chris Cooper asked Mr. Beynon if the monthly report could show the number of
animals euthanized by injection separately from other types of euthanizations. Dr. Sisley instructed Mr.
Beynon to set up a separate listing for injection euthanizations. Mr. Beynon stated that bids for the new
Animal Control building were over the construction amount and were to be rebid. Mr. Beynon advised
that Animal Control would no longer have a night drop bin, and the dip tank was mqved to the rear of the
facility. Chris Cooper asked about the status of the Animal Control Health Educator position. Mr. Beynon
responded that only 2 applicants met the requirements of the job, so the position had been readvertised.
Dr. Sisley stated that a group from C.C.A.R.E. were volunteering to help out at Animal Control. They will
be doing everything that has to do with the care of animals.

those persons they would like to see appointed to the Committee. Sherry Dunlap said that she had been
appointed by the Canine Academy to test dogs in the city for their ability to sniff for bombs and drugs. If
the dogs passed the test, they will be chosen to enter the federal program. Mr. Beynon stated they had
started a program for Wildlife Trappers Service to send samples of blood taken from cats, raccoons, and
ti
opossums for plague monitoring and documentation.
Old Business: None.
