Paul Reynolds Staff Present: Annette Rodriguez Staff Absent: Cheme Stunz Guests: None 1. Call to Order: Susan Them,Chairperson, 12:35pm 2. Approval of Minutes of October 22nd,2005 Dr.Watson made a motion to approve the minutes,Dr. Buckley 2nd the motion and all were in favor. Approval of Absences Dr. Buckley made a motion to approve the absences for Sharon Massad and Pam Rhyner. Dr. Watson 2nd the motion and all were in favor. I Zoonosis Report The Zoonosis Report was attached for review. Manager's Report No staff report due to absence. Staff absent due to court proceedings. 5. Old Business Ms.Theim made a draft of the Mission Statement. No motion was made. A discussion will be held once the committee has had time to review. A discussion was held concerning the opossum pick up. Ms.Theim wants Ms. Stunz to present the committee with the numbers at the end of 3 months for comparison with past numbers and data. Ms.Thiem said a quarterly report would be a good idea. Ms.Rodriguez said$73k was allocated just for opossums pick up for the cost of one vehicle and the staff employee—about 7%of the total budget. Ms. Theim wanted to look at the numbers. Ms. Rodriguez pointed out that she spoke with the County Animal Control Manager about selling animals on the side of road outside of City limits—Yes they were allowed. Ms.Massad inquired the status of the Katrina animals being held at CC ARE.Ms.Rodriguez replied that there were just 3 dogs left from Katrina,to be returned to their owners. Animal care intends to insure compliance with set guidelines for all animal shelters. 6. New Business Ms.Theim read a letter she wrote to Mr. Skip Noe,City Manager,pertaining to Katrina efforts. Ms.Theim called the Red Cross for a volunteer status because she was told Ms. Cheryl Martinez was an official Coordinator of the rescue effort of Katrina for the city of Corpus Christi. Ms.Theim wrote to the Mayor and Mr. Skip Noe who assured her that it was not a City designated appointment that Ms.Martinez had. Ms.Theim has subsequently met with Ms. Stunz who was going to put together an emergency plan for the future,to be in place by June 1, 2006 for the next hurricane season. Ms. Rodriguez gave a report on the Katrina Relocation that the City Health Department was involved in. Exempt staff were paid but non-exempt were not. Also,there are differences between City and County hourly pays. 7. Public Comments No public continents were made due to any attendance. 8. Adiournment Dr.Watson made a motion to adjourn,Dr. Buckley 2nd the motion;all were in favor motion passed. 1:30pm.
