Ms.Ramos replied that she didn't know, although we have had a full calendar. At this time we are scheduling the surgeries into July.We are that full for the schedule. Ms,Massad asked if everyone was showing up for the appointments. Ms.Ramos replied that they are showing up;occasionally there are some t do not. Ms.Ramos did say she would look into it;we also do the surgeries on the adoptable animals. The numbers for adoption for April 2009 were 60 and in April 2008 were 50. Ms.Ramos added that the reason numbers could be down is if the doctor was on vacation during that month, The number for altered animals in April 2008 were 140 and in April 2009123. Ms.Ramos also informed that the Bite Cases were down,75 for the month of April 2008 and in 2009 were 6 . The total calls for service is up;for April 2009 2,761 and in April 2008 2,580. Dr.Buckley asked if under the altered animals,if we were allering the opossums before releasing them. Ms.Ramos replied that we don't release the opossums. Ms.Taube added that there was a gentleman that informed us he would be willing to relocate the opossums but was not sure what happened on the outcome for this. Dr.Buckley added that there is a rehabber in town that specializes in opossums. Clinic Report Ms.Ramos informed the committee that there were 97 surgeries for April 2009 5. New Business Discussion of Fees for Animal Care Services Ms.Ramos informed the committee that we won't be discussing the fees at this time;it should have been worded differently. We want to call a special meeting in June and discuss nothing but the fees because M .Rose wants to be there for this meeting. M&Beynon asked if it would be in addition to the regular meeting. Ms.Ramos replied yes and the only thing would be discussed would be the fees. Dr.Buckley asked when it would be in June. Ms.Ramos replied that she didn't know but please let us know the dates of when is convenient for you. 6, Unfinished Business Dr.Watson opened up the discussion for appointment of Board Members. The opening on the board is from Ms. Massad's and Mr,Reynolds positions. Dr.Watson added that he had spoken with a few that were interested in applying which was a Ms.Destiny(call Dr.Watson for other name). Dr.Watson informed them that they could call personnel to get the information on how to do so. Dr.Watson also added that you could call personnel so you could copies of the bibliographies for those who have applied and they could send it. Ms.Massad added that you may be able to receive it online. Dr.Watson replied that it needs to go thru the City Secretary's office. Animal Control Advisory Committee Meeting May 21t 2009 Dr,Buckley asked how many positions were open. Dr.Watson replied there was Ms.Massad's position and Mr. Reynolds. Ms.Massad commented that she thought we were supposed to discuss the rezoning for Ms. Persons. Dr.Watson replied that Ms, Persons and Ms, Copeland have not been able to get together to discuss. Ms. ynon asked if the re- zoning could be explained to her. Ms.Persons replied that it was in the minutes. Ms.Beynon thought it would be easier if someone could elaborate in a condensed version. Ms.Massad informed Ms.Persons'if you were able to get a copy of the ordinances to read;then you could highlight the items for change and what you would like for these changes. Dr.Watson added that this is a process we do with the city ordinances for Animal Control. Ms.Massad added that she hopes when you are working on the ordinances and you are doing it for kennels you would also look at the one for breeders;not just for commercial but residential too. Dr.Buckley was asking Ms.Persons if she was applying for a zoning change for The Cattery. Ms.Persons replied that we now have a building outside of city limits. But we would like shelters to be allowed in business districts within the city because right now they have to be in industrial ones. Ms.Massad asked if veterinarians can be in there why isn't someone else able to. Dr. Watson replied that they need outside kennels. Ms.Persons added that Santa Fe.Animal Hospital has outside kennels. Dr.Watson added that they need to have an outside exercise area and they could only be out for so long. There are some that do have them but many don't. Ms.Massad added that we probably couldn't piggy back that to breeders. Ms.Persons added for residential by special permit for zoning, maybe that could apply to breeders. Dr.Watson added that next month we will have 5 members,so if we have I absent and still have the quorum. Ms. Massad added that if Ms.Copeland was here she asks them to put their application in,she doesn't have a say in the matter but City Council will so;Ms.Copeland wants the recommendation from the committee to the Council.Dr. Watson replied that with the board's recommendation the City Council does look at that Ms.Massad asked if a letter can be written to the City Council. Dr.Watson replied that he did that with the City Secretary. Dr.Watson did point out that Ms.Copeland gave us a list of those who had applied. Dr.Buckley asked if the list was sent out or at the meefing. Dr.Watson replied it was at the meeting. Mr.Schroeder asked if the replacements could be for the same type, Ms.Massad replied that it can be for the same; she was considered for the'at large'and believed Mr.Reynolds fell under that also. 7.
