A. Zoonosis Repo rt
Mr.Schroder not that the Zoonosis report was attached for viewing. Dr.Whitlock asked that with the October cases, does it an all were
in bats that are listed. Ms.Copeland replied that what you are reading is their case numbers. Mr.Schroeder informed the committee that in
the total we are 2nd place for the total. Ms.Copeland reminded the committee that is because we test all bats. The percentage rate itself is still
the same. When I first came they weren't testing that many. If we are able to reach one we send it in for testing, which is more than the
average.
Mr.Schroeder asked who pays for the testing.Ms.Copeland replied that the state does we pay for the shipping. Ms.Copeland added that she
is thinking about doing the same thing where she worked before. Is when a vat submitted an animal for testing,we didn't charge them it was
just shipped. The only thing we charge here is for the cost of the shipping. If a vet feels that an animal needs tested then it needs tested and
shipped;I would like to eventually change to where the vat wouldn't be charged for this.Currently the vat pays for the 41 pick-up.We do want
them to go thni us so we can know what is going on and chad that. We only get it after the fact if something is wrong. We currently charge

$50.00 if they prepare it and$75,00 if they do,now is not a good time to stop charging them. Dr,Whitlock asked of they could still sNp
themselves to Austin. Ms.Copeland replied yes.
Mr.Schroeder asked if the veterinarian ships it off wouldn't the State be required to notify you, Ms Cope'and replied it would come thru the
back door, they won't spend the time to tell me about a negative result, only the positive. If I don't have a good relationship with them the state
will say that's your problem.Ms.Tau be notifi ed the committee the fees for the veterinarians are$50.00 if the vet prepares the animal and
$75.00 if Animal Control does. Dr.Whitlock asked that is how much it is to ship, Ms.Copeland repFed it costs around$50,,00,there are times
where we ship more than one specimen and it doesn't cost per specimen it's per pound.Dr.Whitlock asked if we had to buy the coolers, Ms,
Copeland replied that we have coolers however we don't have to always use them,as long as they are property packed The reason we have
the coolers is because the staff isn't always prepared to pack.
