HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Animal Care Advisory Committee - 12/13/2012MINUTES OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY COMMITTEE Nueces County Public Health District Education Room, 2626 Holly Rd The Minutes for December 13, 2012 Members Present: Cheryl Martinez, Heather Tarnoski, Barbara Bevnon and Dr. Barbara Whitlock Members Absent: Nina Sislev, Laina Schonefeld, and Harold Beiuiett Citv Staff: Jesse Carreon, Buck Brice and Commander Todd Green Guests: Meagan Winrr 1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Dr. Barbara Whitlock at 12:30 p.m. 2. Discussion and possible Approval of Minutes from November 15, 2012 No corrections were needed. Cheryl Martinez moved to approve the minutes, Barbara Beynon second the motion. All were in favor and the motion was passed. 3. Discussion of the Current Zoonosis Report Dr. Whitlock informed the committee that there was nothing to report in our district this month, but Nueces has had 3 this year: 2 in May and I in October with no human exposure. 27 positive cases reported this year. 4. Discussion of Current Shelter Report Please see attached form for the Shelter report. 5. Clinic Report Clinic Report was not ready in time and will be discussed January 17, 2013. 6. Discussion, review and possible recommendation of Citv Animal Control net registration fee for unaltered animals A general discussion was held on the City Animal Control pet registrations fees. It was recommended to send it to council with a price of $50.00. Cheryl Martinez moved to approve and Heather 2 nd the motion. Dr. Whitlock and Barbara Beynon both opposed. It was recommended to send it to council with a price of $35.00. Cheryl Martinez moved to approve and Heather 2 nd the motion. Barbara Beynon opposed and and Dr. Whitlock was in favor. With a vote of 3 to 1 the motion was passed and will go to council in January. review and nossible recommendation for Sterilization Voucher on Return to Owners and Impound Fees. A general discussion was held about sterilizing Return to Owner pets and Impound Fees. Dr. Whitlock asked that the wording be changed to amending the mandator-- spay /neuter following impoundment ordinance. Cheryl Martinez moved to table and Barbara Bevnon 2 nd the motion. All were in favor and the recommendation was tabled. 8. Discussion, review and nossible recommendation on vaccination of animals, where to board animals, and charge for extra boarding days. A general discussion was held about vaccinating animals, where to board animals, and whether or not to charge for extra boarding days. Dr. Whitlock asked that this be combined with the Sterilization Voucher on Return to Owners and Impound fees. Cheryl Martinez moved to table and Barbara Bevnon 2 "" the motion. All were in favor and the recommendation was tabled. 9. Discussion, review and possible recommendation of update clone by staff on PetData. Steven Bl_v was unable to attend the meeting and he has the information about PetData. Dr. Whitlock asked for #9 to be placed on the next agenda. 10. Public Comments No public comments. 11. Identify items to be placed on next agenda The committee wanted the following items on the agenda for the month of January 2013. Discuss, review and possible recommendation for amending Sterilization Voucher on Return to Owners ordinance, impound fees, vaccination of animals, and where to board: Discuss, review and possible recommendation for a Feral Cat Ordinance: Discuss, review and possible recommendation of update done by staff on PetData; Discuss, review and possible approval of Absences from November 15, 2012: Discuss, review and possible approval of Absences from December 13, 2012: Discuss, review and possible recommendation on the status of Dr. Nina Sislev. 12. Adiournment Cheryl Martinez moved to adjourn the meeting, Barbara Beynon second the motion. All were in favor and the motion was passed. Meeting was adjourned at 1:50 p.m.
