ANIMAL CONTROL ADVISORY MEETING

The Minutes for May 16,2013
Members Present: Laina Schonefeld,Barbara Beynon, Cheryl Martinez,Harold Bennet,Megan
Winn and Dr.Barbara Whitlock
Members Absent: Janet Strawn

1. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Dr. Whitlock at 12:35 p.m.
2. Discussion and Possible approval of minutes from March 21,2013
Corrections needed were as follows: Line item 2 change terminated to resided. Correct the spelling on the
word verbiage. Correct the spelling on the word Council. Cheryl Martinez moved to approve the minutes
and Laina Schonefeld 2nd the motion. All were in favor and the motion was passed.
3. Discussion and Possible approval of minutes from Mav 1,2013
Corrections needed were as follows: Line item 2,correct the spelling of Council. Cheryl Martinez moved to
approve the minutes and Barbara Beynon 2"d the motion. All were in favor and the motion was passed.
4. Discussion and Possible approval of Absences from March 21,2013
No discussion was held.
4. Discussion of the Current Zoonosis Report
Dr. Whitlock informed the committee that no positive rabies results were reported in Nueces County for the
months of March and April.
5. Discussion of the Current Shelter Report
Please see attached form for the Current Shelter Report. Cheryl Martinez moved to change the Shelter
Report from the number of the rivo previous months to previous month of the current year and previous
month and previous year. Barbara Beynon 2nd the motion:all were in favor and the motion passed.
6. Discussion of the Current Clinic Report
Please see attached form for the Current Clinic Report.
7. Discussion,review,and possible recommendation for a Feral Cat Colony Ordinance
A general discussion was held about a Feral Cat Colony Ordinance. Items discussed were: testing the
felines, San Antonio`s procedures,Pilot Program,limit to the amount of cats, start strong on the rules and
then decrease,amount of cats based on property size,increase permit fee,Feral Cat Nuisance Form,and
Feral Cat Caregiver. Cheryl Martinez moved to change the fee from$10.00 to$25.00,Harold Bennett 2""
the motion. 5 were in favor,0 oppose, and 1 abstain.Motion passes. Cheryl Martinez moved to add date of
birth and Texas Drivers License to the application. Laina Shonefeld 2""the motion. All were in favor and
the motion was passed. Cheryl Martinez moved to change item number 8 from twenty to ten.Harold
Bennett 2nd the motion. 5 approved and 1 opposed, the motion passed. Cheryl Martinez moved to remove
item number 7 and Barbara Beynon 2""the motion. 5 approved and 1 opposed, the motion passed.
8. Discussion,review,and possible recommendation of Fee Structure and Pet Data
Due to the fact that we are waiting on information from Pet Data(winch may or may not alter fees)Dr.
Whitlock decided to table the issue until the next meeting.
9. Discussion,review,and possible recommendation of leg traps
Discussion Avill be tabled until next meeting.

13. Identift items to be placed on next agenda
The committee Avanted the following items added on the agenda for the month of June 2013:Discussion,
review and possible recommendation for a feral cat colony:Discuss,review, and possible recommendation
of fee structure and PetData;Discuss,review, and possible recommendation for leg traps:Discuss,review,
and possible recommendation on the low cost spay/neuter:Discuss,review, and possible recommendation
on targeted spay/neuter.

Cheryl Martinez moved to adjoum the meeting,Harold Bennett 2"d the motion. All were in favor and the
meeting adjoumed at 2:08 p.m.
