ANIMAL CARE ADVISORY MEETING

Minutes from February 16,2017 Meeting
Members Present: Linda Gibeaut,Cheryl Martinez, Samantha Person,
Dr. Sara Andux,Michelle Sanders,Megan Tisdale
Members Absent: Megan Winn
City Staff: Ana Lisa Puente,Jackie Torres,William Broyles,
Guests: Sharon Ray
1. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Cheryl Martinez at 12:30 P.M.
2. Discussion and Approval of Minutes from November 17,2016.
Samantha Person moved to approve meeting minutes, Michelle Sanders seconded and motion passed
unanimously.
3. Discussion and Approval of Absences from November 17,2016
Megan Tisdale was absent due to work. Dr.Andux moved to approve absence,Michelle Sanders seconded and
motion passed unanimously.
4. Discussion of Current Texas Department of State Health Services Region 11 Zoonosis Report
There was general discussion of quarterly report.
5. Discussion of Parks and Wildlife Report
There was general discussion on report.
6. Discussion of Shelter Report and Clinic Report
There was a discussion on November,December, and January's Shelter Report, and Clinic Report.
7. Discussion and update on responsible pet ownership class
Cheryl Martinez states a class took place in January. There were eight in attendance. She states there was a good
response to the class.
8. Discussion and recommendation on mandatory microchipping ordinance
Cheryl Martinez states she would like to see City Registration done away with and it be replaced with mandatory
microchipping. Advisory Board agrees to carry this on in next month's agenda for further discussion.
9. Discussion and update on Pet Retention Program
Cheryl Martinez discusses the new Pet Retention Program started with Animal Care Services back in July of
2016. There have been good results with this program. A grant of$21,000 was awarded to PAAC to assist in
this program.
11. Discussion and update on Heartworm Treatment Program
Cheryl Martinez discusses how PAAC approved of$500 a month worth of heartworm treatment for one large
dog, and one small dog at Animal Care Services.

13. Identify items to be placed on next agenda
Items 1-6
Discussion and update on mandatory microchipping ordinance.

Adjourn 1:02 p.m. Megan Tisdale moved to adjourn, Samantha Person seconded, adjournment passed
unanimously.
