LaBarrett. Jove non ! N 23 4 I. CALL TO ORDER - The regular meeting of the Arts and Cultural Commission was called to order at 4:09 pm by Chair, Heidi Hovda. II. ROLL CALL - The recording secretary called roll, announced quorum. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES a. Regular Meeting May 3, 2011 i. Joe Schenk made a motion to approve the minutes. Joye seconded. Minutes were approved. IV. PUBLIC COMMENT — None V. OLD BUSINESS (DISCUSSION / POSSIBLE ACTION) a. Completion Reports for 2009 Art Subgrants i. Still need to look through boxes at Galvan House to locate the correct files. b. Arts & Cultural Alliance i. ACA did not make quorum last month. Compiled information for report to the city Council. ii. Heidi has communicated with Utility Business Office and spoke with Priscilla Garza. The office cannot provide the names of those who signed up for the Fund, just addresses. iii. The Fund will be introduced in October at La Palmera, and the ACA will have a booth set up at Jazz Festival. 353 people have signed up so far. iv. ACA working on obtaining 501 c3. c. RFP for Bond 2008 Percent for Art Projects i. No report. d. Dot Turner/Joan Allen 1961 mural in Whataburger storage i. Reba received a letter from representative of Whataburger. Whataburger is looking for a "viable organization willing to take ownership of the Mural if they agree to pay for the relocation and placement of the Mural in a prominent public location." Reba stated they have a possible location at the American Bank Center; however, the art piece will need to have a structure built to accommodate it. Commissioners discussed transportation of the piece and the expense they would incur. ii. Reba and Michael Morris will meet with the Mayor and let him know the details of the piece. e. Art Maintenance Items i. Plaque at the Coppini Fountain was stolen. ii. James Maltz is lined up for repair on fountain statue at the Art Center. iii. Joe Schenk will compose a letter regarding the changing of the lights placed at the Orion's Belt piece. f. ACC Presentation to Council i. City Manager prefers crisp concise information. Reba plans to take the negative and roll them into more positive options. ACC would like to be positive but not send the message that they do not need funding. Other departments need to work with the Arts along with Parks and Recreation. Commissioners will need to meet to determine who will say what during the report. Report provides highlights of the year: Festival of the Arts becomes 501 c3, Membership reduced from 17 to 9, ACC seeking Cultural District Designation, OFFICE
