I. CALL TO ORDER -The Special Called meeting of the Arts and Cultural Commission was called to order
at 4:05 p.m. by Brad Kisner.
II. ROLL CALL-The recording secretary called roll, announced quorum.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A) Regular Meeting, January 14, 2014 — Reba George requested an amendment to the minutes.
Sean Mintz moved to approve the minutes as amended. Paul Duke seconded. Minutes were
approved.
IV. PUBLIC COMMENT— None
V. OLD BUSINESS
Arts Grants
Tess Allan gave a brief update on the 2014 and 2013 Arts Grants and the big check presentation before
the City Council meeting on March 181h at 11:30.
Fire Station #5 Project
Dianna Bluntzer gave an update on the Fire Station #5 progress. The Art Selection Panel recommends
that the ACC recommend approval of artist Lynda Jones and the art concept she has created for the
exterior wall of Fire Station #5 to City Council for their consideration. Joe Schenk moved that the ACC
recommend approval of artist, Lynda Jones, and the art concept she has created for the exterior wall of
Fire Station #5 to City Council for their consideration. Sean Mintz seconded. Motion was approved.
Art Maintenance
Reba George gave a brief update on research being done and the RFQ that will be sent out to find
qualified conservators.
Amendment to Art Donation Agreement for Sculpture at Suter Park
Reba George led discussion of extending the Donation Agreement for the Ishka Monument Committee to
2019. Joe Schenk moved to request a formal progress report on funding progress, artist commitment
and a maintenance plan from the Ishka Monument Committee at the next ACC meeting. Sean Mintz
seconded. Motion was approved.
Arts Forum
The Arts Forum will be held in October as that is National Arts & Humanity Month.
Bond Fund Projects
City Council will review the ACC's recommendation of Dixie Friend Gay's proposed sculpture at the Oso
Bay Outdoor Nature and Learning Center at their March 18th and 25th meetings and will review the ACC's
recommendation of Lynda Jones' proposed Mural for Fire Station #5 at their April 8th and 15th meetings.
