I. CALL TO ORDER-The regular meeting of the Arts and Cultural Commission was called to order at 4:05 p.m. by Brad Kisner. II. ROLL CALL - The recording secretary called roll and announced quorum. Sarah Coles was introduced and welcomed to the Commission. By general consensus Laura Petican's absence was excused as she was in Canada when appointed and had not yet been sworn in or gone through a new member orientation. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — Regular Meeting, November 10, 2015 — Stephen Rybak moved to approve the minutes as submitted. Cathy Harrison seconded. Minutes were unanimously approved. 4:08 Carla Gardiner entered the meeting IV. PUBLIC COMMENT — Jay Ellington, Director of Parks & Recreation, was introduced and thanked the Commissioners for their work. V. OLD BUSINESS Public Art Projects, Administration and Conservation City Staff gave a brief update on several projects: • Samples of the game card and prize for the ISpy public art tour& game for kids were distributed for the Commissioner's review. A link for the tour is on the Parks & Recreation website, Joe Schenk at the Art Museum and Dianna Sherman at the Art Center have both agreed to distribute the game card at their locations & Sarah Coles agreed to distribute the game cards to children participating in her program at the Science & History Museum as well. • Tai Pomara has begun conservation work on Six and Seven Flowers. He is about 'h way done and will return to complete the work next week. 4:14 Paul Duke entered the meeting • The group donating the Ishka Monument has begun the process to have the monument's base installed at Hans Sutter Park. Arts Grant The Completion Report deadline for all 2015 Arts Grants is February 12, 2016. About '/2 of the 2015 grantees have already submitted their report and City Staff will send a reminder to those who have not. The 2016 Arts Grants recipients have all signed their agreements and payments for the first half of their grants will be issued to everyone except for those who have not yet completed their grant requirements for 2015. The `Big Check' presentation for the 2016 Arts Grant recipients will take place on Tuesday, February 9th at the City Council meeting. Public Art Book City Staff will meet with Snyder&Associates next week to discuss edits and will have a final copy of the Public Art Book for the Commissioners to review at the February 9th meeting. Discussion centered on 1 printing and distribution of the Art Book, an electronic link to the book, inviting artists to attend a book release party to sign the books, and adding a note in the book on how to contribute to the Public Art Program. VI. NEW BUSINESS Public Art Inventory Each of the Commissioners took a section of the Public Art Collection, divided by location, to inspect each piece on site and fill out a condition report to help determine the current condition of the collection and to call attention to any pieces which are in need of maintenance or special care. Commissioners will return the condition reports for discussion at the February meeting. VII. IDENTIFY ITEMS TO BE PLACED ON THE NEXT AGENDA • Condition Reports • Public Art Book • Arts Forum VIII.
