I. CALL TO ORDER-The regular meeting of the Arts and Cultural Commission was called to order at 4:01 p.m. by Brad Kisner. II. ROLL CALL-The recording secretary called roll and announced quorum. III. PUBLIC COMMENT— None IV. OLD BUSINESS Return Kevin McCord from Engineering presented a new possible option to repair the mural using an epoxy. After some discussion the Commissioners requested that Engineering speak to the artists about the process, and asked for an estimate and a time frame. Public Art Projects, Administration and Conservation City Staff provided updates for the following items: • Fire Station No. 18 — Shelly Rios, Art Selection Panel Chair, announced that the Art Selection Panel reviewed the 4 semi-finalists sketch proposals and selected finalist, Jerimiah Heye, to create and present a formal proposal. Mr. Heye will come to Corpus Christi to meet with Staff, the Fire Department and to visit the site on March 23rd and will return on March 30th to make his formal presentation to the Panel. • Texas Recreation & Parks Society (TRAPS) Award — The Parks and Recreation Department received the Arts & Humanities award for the Public Art Book and the ISpy Public Art Tour at the TRAPS Conference on March 2nd. The Award is currently on display at the Parks & Recreation reception desk. • Untitled History Relocation and The Flame— both projects are waiting for approval from risk management. As soon as they are approved work can begin. • Urban Visions Public Art Donation for La Retama Park — City Council will be considering the ACC's recommendation to accept this donation at their meeting today. • Arts Grants — The `Big Check' ceremony was held during the City Council Meeting on Feb 21St Brad, Laura, Sarah, and Hilda were present. • Arts Grants—CC Ballet will have their grant funded event, Snow White, March 30th—April 2nd. • Arts Grants—Sarah Coles reported on her experience as a grantee. Collier Pool Public Art Project At the March 7th Special Called meeting it was decided that recommendation for the City to enter into an agreement with Monument Fine Art & Sculpture Conservation was tentative upon Monument's agreement to add 20% more birds/shade to their revised proposal. Monument agreed, adding 27% more birds to their structure. They also agreed to exchange some of the smaller birds originally proposed to the larger birds which will also provide more shade. Therefore, City Council will be considering the ACC's recommendation to enter into an agreement with Monument for the fabrication and installation of a Public work of art at Collier Pool at their meeting today. 1 V. NEW BUSINESS 2017 Arts Forum Commissioners discussed preliminary details of the Arts Forum. Tess will contact the Art Museum regarding the use the Singer Gallery and a preferred date, and will contact Laura Petican about selecting a student artist for the 2017 Star Volunteer Award. VI.
