B. Airport Art Projects
Dennis Kemmerer reported on their tour of the airport where Debra Keller showed the
anticipated placements for the art pieces. The Porta Del Mar glass sculpture might be
placed on the second floor in an area where the light can shine through the structure
most of the day. The suggested placement for Haley's Wing was in a prominent area
on the ground floor. And the Bromeliad's possible placement may be at the parking
entrance for visibility and security.
There will be a brainstorming session to discuss and plan future art acquisitions, whom
is wanted as the director/curator for this project and to coordinate efforts with other
organizations within our area. Chuck Anastos, Deborah Fullerton and Linda Avila

Seawall Art Project
Jeff Messengil, Vice-President of Shiner, Mosley & Associates and Kevin Stowers, City
Engineer gave a presentation of possible architectural enhancements and art
possibilities for the Seawall project. There are 1.5 million dollars allowed for the art
portion of the Seawall project. The project has been divided into four phases, not all
are equal in size. Two hundred, forty-two thousand dollars are allowed for the first
section, the barge dock area. The Commission's recommendation will be given at the
November meeting.
(Dennis Kemmerer left at 5:10 p.m.)
C. Placement of DiSuvero Piece
There was discussion regarding the five-year loan of a DiSuvero art piece. Michael
Manjarris is coordinating this effort. The committee expressed a need for a project
presentation, an image of the piece, a quote for the affiliated cost, loan specifics,
insurance information and the total arrangement to be in written contract form.
(Anna Flores left at 5:40 p.m.)
D. Subgranting Recommendations
All of the Peer Panel results are not yet available. Therefore, this item was tabled until

VI. COMMITTEE REPORT

Festival of the Arts event.

2002. The Art Banners have arrived and are beautiful.
B. Development Committee
There was no report.
VII. STAFF REPORT
Ronnie Sepulveda was absent. There was no report.
VIII. CONCERNS
Anne Stewart related that recent newspaper articles and ads seem to have escalated
confusion regarding two of the local ballet groups, Corpus Christi Ballet and Corpus Christi
Concert Ballet. It is particularly important that Commission members understand the
difference between the two groups as ACC financially supports both. CONCERT BALLET is
the sponsoring organization for Bailando al Aire Libre to be held in Cole Park this weekend.
This free family entertainment event brings schools, studios and companies from many
locations in South Texas together to share their expertise. CC Ballet was invited to participate
in Bailando but is unable due to a scheduling conflict. Each company will have their own
Nutcracker program and spring performances during the Fine Arts Festival.
IX. ADJOURNMENT—
Elizabeth Reese made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:50 p.m. Colin Sykes seconded.
Motion passed.
