I. CALL TO ORDER — The regular meeting of the Arts and Cultural Commission was called to
order at 4:40 p.m. by Chair, Chuck Anastos.
II. ROLL CALL —The Recording Secretary called roll, announced quorum.
Introduction of Linda Hodge, Assistant Director of Programs, Park & Recreation Department
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES —January 9, 2003
Elia Gutierrez made a motion that the minutes be accepted as submitted. Linda Avila
seconded. Motion passed.
IV. HEARING FROM PUBLIC — none
V. DISCUSSION ITEMS AND POSSIBLE ACTION -
A. DiSuvero Project
Ronnie Sepulveda noted the arrival target date is February 20, 2003. However, there
is some concern regarding the ground/foundation weight bearing properties that are
needed for installation. A local engineer is working on the project to be certain all
requirements are met before placement.
B. Corpus Christi Ballet Completion Report
Ronnie Sepulveda reported the Corpus Christi Ballet has not submitted their
completion report, are not in compliance with their grant agreement and are therefore
disqualified from this year's grants. The report must be submitted before their 2004
grant application can be accepted.
C. Discussion on absences
Chuck Anastos reviewed the commission's Attendance Policy and lead discussion
regarding member's absences. The commission agreed not to make any policy
changes at this time.
VI. COMMITTEE REPORT
Public Arts Committee
Dennis Kemmerer is continuing his data collection work on the Public Art Collection
C) project.
Elizabeth Reese is working on marketing our Public Art Collection through a Website
as well as a paper brochure.
Deborah Fullerton, Linda Avila and Ronnie Sepulveda attended a recent meeting for
the Public Art at the Airport project. The Public Arts Selection Panel is working toward
quality and diversity of the collection. A signature piece is also being sought for the
entrance.

Performing Arts Committee
Linda Avila showed the new rack card and stated that the Public Service
announcements are to start soon. Local clubs are already requesting presentations. A
Press Conference is also planned for early March.
The committee discussed alternate sponsors as Whataburger declined their support.
Chuck Anastos announced the City Council approved the shade structure proposal for
the Seawall project.
Armando Camina spoke of a new process being developed for the Subgrant project
and lead discussion on some committee ideas.
VII. STAFF REPORT:
Ronnie Sepulveda stated there was no additional information.
VIII. CURRENT CONCERNS:
1. Concern was expressed regarding supportive attendance at the City Council meetings.
Discussion regarding a calling tree was held.
2. Norma Urban announced the Public Art, Dolphin's Around Town project will be displayed
later this year. The dolphins will be auctioned in 2004. Auction proceed beneficiaries were
discussed.

IX. ADJOURNMENT:
As there was no further business, Deborah Fullerton made a motion to adjourn the meeting at
5:35 p.m. Colin Sykes seconded. The motion passed.
