Stewart, Anne i ❑ ® 8.Jones, Lynda ® ❑ Total: 12 3 CALL TO ORDER-The meeting of the Arts and Cultural Commission was called to order at 4:35 p.m. by Chair, Chuck Anastos. I. ROLL CALL-The Recording Secretary called roll, announced quorum. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - February 9, 2005 Motion by Lynda Jones, 2nd by Ed Grove, to approve minutes as written, motion passed. HEARING FROM PUBLIC - none V. DISCUSSION ITEMS AND POSSIBLE ACTION: 1. Potential placement of the Moroles Fountain on the property of the Garcia Art Education Center. The Moroles fountain, "The Floating Mesa" has been gifted to the Garcia Art Center by the Westside Business Association, and the G.A.C. will maintain the art work. The W. B.A. is just interested in the piece being completed. Piece is valued at $75,000 or more. Motion by Linda Avila to commit $1,500 to finish the art and the placement at the Garcia Center, 2nd by Jim Rennier. Vote carried, Deborah Fullerton abstained. VI. COMMITTEE REPORTS - PERFORMING ARTS - DeAnne Gould-Lancaster DeAnn thanked the committee for getting everything done for the 2005 FOA. Lots of free media coverage was received. There will be a wrap up meeting with the Arts organizations on Tuesday, March 29th, 2005 at the Galvan House. April 20 will be the first meeting for the 2006 FOA Year. Linda Avila congratulated the P. A. Committee on the great job they did. She also mentioned she had seen a billboard just outside of Progresso, advertising the Festival in the Valley. VISUAL ARTS - Lynda Jones Mrs. Vaughn spoke at the Visual Arts meeting in favor of the Mural Task Force. It was suggested they might want to consider applying for a grant. Email a copy of the new grant to acc members. CULTURAL ENRICHMENT — Mando Camino —Applications are ready for the website. The 2006 Subgrant year begins April 1, 2005 and applications are available online at the City website or by hard copy from Heritage Park. STAFF REPORT—There is a fund raising possibility for the Arts and Cultural Commission. An Hispanic Art Show will take place at Heritage Park . The Art that will be displayed include some well known artists and a silent auction can take place. CURRENT CONCERNS —Diana Hankins announced that 1800 plus youth were reached by the Corpus Christi Symphony during this year's youth presentations at Richardson Auditorium. IX. ADJOURNMENT - As there was no further business, Lynda Jones made a motion to adjourn the meeting. DeAnn Gould-Lancaster 2nd the motion.
