I. ROLL CALL-The Recording Secretary called roll, announced quorum. o-66, E2N/

Chad Luhan arrived at 4:38 p.m.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES-April 13, 2005
Motion by DeAnn Gould-Lancaster, 2nd by Mando Camina, to approve minutes as written, motion
passed.
HEARING FROM PUBLIC- none
V. DISCUSSION ITEMS AND POSSIBLE ACTION:
1. Does Arts and Cultural Commission want to consider meeting every other month and do
special called meetings when necessary? Commission does not want to change current
meeting status and will continue to meet the second Thursday of each month.
VI. COMMITTEE REPORTS -
PERFORMING ARTS - DeAnne Gould-Lancaster It was a great year; more varied promotion
was done and improved the coverage of the event very successfully. The next year will be bigger
and better. Mando Camina suggested a largeer kickoff group, with a city sponsor.
Daquiri Richard arrived at 5 p.m.
VISUAL ARTS- Deborah Fullerton reported in absence of Lynda Jones. V.A. met at the AB Ctr
to site the Rush Cole painting. It is on a 2nd floor spot with dropdown liglhts. The Jiminez is
complete and plans are to deliver it the 2nd week of May. A platform system is being planned.
Mel Chin has agreed to complete his work.
CULTURAL ENRICHMENT- Mando Camino-The Subgrant process began April 1 and will end
April 30. Organizations can request a hard copy of the application or obtain it from the City
website.
STAFF REPORT- Chair Anastos requested that Dr. Valadez clarify for the Commissionrs the
state-wide issues on HOT funding and the continuing efforts to eliminate the arts from receiving
funding. The cost of the lighting at Whataburger Stadium will be paid out of the 20% of the
construction costs.
CURRENT CONCERNS —Linda Avila submitted her resignation; due to a move out-of-town.
ADJOURNMENT - As there was no further business, Ed Grove made a motion to
adjourn the meeting. Deborah Fullerton 2nd the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 5:26
p.m.
