I. ROLL CALL-The Recording Secretary called roll, announced quorum. �L 99.:y../ II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES -July 14, 2005 Motion by Gloria Bilaye-Benibo , 2nd by Elia Guttierez, to approve minutes as written. Minutes were approved. III. HEARING FROM PUBLIC- None. IV. DISCUSSION ITEMS AND POSSIBLE ACTION: Vote for New Chairperson: Chad Luhan announced that his job has made it impossible for him to accept a nomination. Chad Luhan nominated Jim Rennier for chair. Each candidate was allowed a 5 minute presentation. Mando Camina spoke about his background with the media and his interest in being the chair. He has a new 501c3 organization. His vision is for A.C.C. to promote itself to the public. Jim Rennier spoke of his background: he joined TAMUK 6 years ago; his leadership style is "consensus" servant leadership. Chairman requested nominations from the floor. None presented. Any questions for the nominees? None All in favor of Armando Camina All in favor of Jim Rennier Armando Camina won the majority vote and is the new A.C.C. Chair for the 2005-2006 year. 4:40 p.m. Judith Prewitt arrived. Subcommitte chairs will be elected at the next sub-committee meeting. V. COMMITTEE REPORTS - PERFORMING ARTS - DeAnn Gould-Lancaster- The committee is looking for backup locations for the FOA Kickoff Ceremony because the weather is so bad that time of year. Wednesday, November 9 is the date of the Marketing Workshop for Non-profits. It will be held at the Galvan House from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. There will be several speakers throughout the session. DeAnne Gould-Lancaster and Ed Grove will be meeting with the local Hotel-Motel Association regarding the Festival of the Arts. VISUAL ARTS - Lynda Jones - Plaques for art pieces is being discussed. Some artists will do their own. Bronze is b considered, along with ceramic for is pieces. There are 3 new Percent-for-Art project Two Arrange performance to benefit scholarship Refugees will be concert CULTURAL ENRICHMENT— Mando Camino — STAFF REPORT—The City Manager wants to highlight local artists in the City Atrium. It was suggested by Chuck Anastos that some of the city's Public Art collection be exhibited there. Public Art Maintenance: The Coppini will be surfaced and sealed. The lighting will be recon- structed on Danny's piece at the central library. Does anyone kno9w if the bronze Christopher Columbus is part of the city's Permanent Art Collection? Was it donated to the city? CURRENT CONCERNS —The September meeting will be on the 6th floor. ADJOURNMENT -As there was no further business, DeAnne Gould-Lancaster made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Ed Grove 2nd the motion.
