ROLL CALL — The Recording Secretary called roll, announced quorum. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — October Workshop and November 10, 2005 Minutes. Motion by LJones, 2nd by FTrimble, to approve minutes as written. Minutes were approved. III. HEARING FROM PUBLIC — None IV. DISCUSSION ITEMS AND POSSIBLE ACTION: • Letter of Support and a Resolution for the Nueces County Park — City Council has already signed a Resolution of Support; Bays & Estuaries are in support of this project. These letters are needed for Federal Funding applications. Commissioners agreed to sign a letter of support for the project. DeAnn G-Lancaster moved and Ed Grove seconded motion to support the project. Anne Stewart moved and Judith Prewitt 2nded, Commissioners agreed to sign a Letter of Support for the project. All were in favor— motion passed. COMMITTEE REPORTS - PERFORMING ARTS — DeAnn Gould-Lancaster- 3rd Coast was chosen as the web designer for the Festival of the Arts website. Several hotels are offering special rates during the Festival of the Arts and will be posted on the website. Currently there are 19 events and 60% of them have free admission. The Kickoff Ceremony is set for Saturday, March 4"', at the Art Museum. VISUAL ARTS — Lynda Jones - The Jimenez still needs some work and the base has to cure for one month before the piece can be seated. Mel Chin's lost piece is being xxxxxx 1-Northwest RFP on the website 2- 3- Danny O'Dowdy was the art panelist for Leadership Corpus Christi. TCA has grants available. CULTURAL ENRICHMENT—Anne Stewart— Monday meeting will be held to complete the subgrant scoring. 5 p.m. Rebecca Esparza arrived. STAFF REPORT—There is a Christmas Ornament Show at Heritage Park, by local artists, through December. This is a unique opportunity to buy an original ornament. Dr. Valadez said he will send out an amended budget to be approved at the next meeting. The City of Toledo, Spain, a Corpus Christi Sister City, has requested we host 3 artists from Toledo. They provide the transportation and we provide food and lodging. Would A.C.C. like to be involved? CURRENT CONCERNS Can someone meet with the new Symphony director? Joye LaBarret is working really hard for the FOA committee and is being recommended as a Commissioner. It was suggested by Lynda Jones that Subgrant applicants be required to market their program via www.CorpusChristiDaily.com to help make that site THE calendar to use for local events. It was also suggested that every applicant be required to participate in the Subgrant Workshop next year, as there were so many errors and poorly written grants this year. Also suggested was to have a special grant writer as part of the Workshop and charge for the Workshop. suggested it is important to bring the Arts and Cultural Commission into focus for the community. A luncheon at Heritage Park was suggested and the media be invited, along with others needing to be made aware of Arts and Cultural Commission and what it does. There are now art spaces throughout the city: Harmon Park, the downtown area, the Cancer memorial and more. Norma Urban is trying to do a history of the area and is looking for grants. Dr. Otten, Director of the Art Museum, wants to hold a meeting with groups interested in the arts. The purpose would be to scatter events or times of events so there wasn't overlap. Anne Stewart said that Sally Gavlik, Director, Parks and Recreation, and Donna DeLeon, Latchkey Area supervisor, attended Ms. Stewart's luncheon. ADJOURNMENT - As there was no further business, EGrove made a motion to adjourn the meeting, JPrewitt 2nd the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m. Folks started at the new Marina facilities for Holiday refreshments that everyone brought to share.
