Lancaster, DeAnn Gd- Total: ; 12 3 *COMMISSIONERS: PLEASE BRING YOUR COPY OF AGENDA & MINUTES TO MEETING.* CALL TO ORDER — The meeting of the Arts and Cultural Commission was called to order at 4:43 p.m. by Chair, DeAnn Gould-Lancaster. I. ROLL CALL — The Recording Secretary called roll, announced quorum. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — Dec. 14, 2006 Motion by Molly Merkle , 2nd by Jim Rennier approve minutes. Minutes were approved as changed. HEARING FROM PUBLIC — None — There was a visitor from Colorado observing the meeting. III. DISCUSSION ITEMS AND POSSIBLE ACTION: * Discussion and/or action on By-Laws Lynda Jones made a motion to accept the By-Law changes; Ed Grove 2nd; Motion passed with 1 abstention. The approved by-law changes created a new committee, Youth Arts. Subgranting became an Ad Hoc Committee. IV. COMMITTEE REPORTS PERFORMING ARTS — Committee is working hard on FOA for this year. Looking for hotels, performers and more. See copy of January FOA Report provided by Chair Joye LaBarrett. VISUAL ARTS — Forming a new peer panel with 2 artists, 2 south side community based representatives. Please let Lynda Jones know of folks who might be interested to serve. CULTURAL ENRICHMENT — Scoring on-going. ACC requested to come in and score at the Galvan House. Ad Hoc Committees: 1-Arts Incubator— Ed Grove is still working on plans; making contacts. John Watson, president of the board of directors of K Space was introduced. Ed mentioned that K Space is looking to expand their facilities and they are interested in our arts incubator project. Ed shared a document that he and Gustavo worked on (see attached) — a business plan for the arts incubator. He asked commissioners to look over the document and provide feedback. 2-By-Laws — New Standing and Ad Hoc Committees & Members: 1-Performing Arts-Joye LaBarret; Ed Grove; Lisa Godwin; Beto Garcia 2-Visual Arts-Lynda Jones; Frank Trimble; Molly Merkle Jack Gron 3-Cultural Enrichment-Judith Prewitt; David Villareal; Elia Gutierrez + one more 4-Youth Arts Development— Jim Rennier; Anne Stewart; Gloria-Bilaye-Benibo + one more 5-Ad Hoc Arts Incubator: Ed Grove; Joye LaBarrett; Lisa Godwin; Jack Gron 6-Ad Hoc Subgranting: Joye LaBarrett; Anne Stewart; Molly Merkle New member Jack Gron was introduced. STAFF REPORT Joe Pena will be placing art at City Hall and will rotate artist every 3 months. Phyllis Findley will be the first artist to have her work at City Hall in this new program CURRENT CONCERNS — Art Survey Form —Arts Directory Chairperson DeAnn Gould-Lancaster asked the commissioners for their feedback regarding the arts directory survey form. The Chair Person will be reassigning Committee members not attending their assigned sub committees due to time conflicts to a subcommittee that fits their schedules. ADJOURNMENT - As there was no further business, Jim Rennier made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Ed Grove 2nd the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 5:31 p.m. .
