ROLL CALL -The recording secretary called roll, announced quorum. III. PUBLIC COMMENT-None IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES a. Special Called Meeting, July 16, 2009 i. Correct spelling of Jilissa Cotton's name ii. Take Joe Pena's name off Visual Arts and change to Lynda Jones; Joe Pena was absent from meeting so he did not report iii. Take Teresa Crayon's name off Cultural Enrichment and change to Joe Hilliard; Teresa Crayon was absent from meeting so she did not report. iv. Update bullets under Subgrant 1. Joye LaBarrett made a motion to approve minutes with noted corrections. Joe Hilliard seconded. Motion passed. V. FINANCIAL REPORT a. Karen Dawson reported on financials i. General Funds Budget for 2009-2010 is$40,000.00 ii. Hot Funds Budget for 2009-2010 is$91,500.00 VI. COMMITTEE REPORTS a. Performing Arts-Joye LaBarrett i. Will be having a Festival of the Arts meeting in the next week to two weeks. b. Visual Arts-Joe Pena i. None c. Cultural Enrichment-Teresa Crayon i. None d. Youth Arts Development-Ericha Kemm i. None e. Grants-Joye LaBarrett i. If not here for presentations, will not be allowed to score ii. Organizations will be disqualified if completion reports are not submitted by January 31 iii. The score sheets are due by August 27 h; can send as email or drop of with Karen VII. OLD BUSINESS(DISCUSSION/ POSSIBLE ACTION) VIII. NEW BUSINESS (DISCUSSION I POSSIBLE ACTION) a. Reappointment of commissioners i. Joe Schenk, Heidi Hovda and Joye LaBarrett all stated that they want to be reappointed. ii. Lari Young will not be renewing her commission b. Update on Selena Monument i. Richard power washed c. Discuss policy for grant voting if not present for presentations i. Cannot vote if not present • . . • d. Review applicatictnd recommend Civic position candidate i. Ericha Kemm made a motion to table. Joye LaBarrett seconded. Motion passed. e. Coastal Bend Community Foundation Funding Grant i. Heidi Hovda made a motion to apply for the Coastal Bend Community Foundation Grant for Festival of the Arts. Joye LaBarrett seconded. Motion passed. Judith Prewitt opposed. 1. Joye LaBarrett and Heidi Hovda will write grant. f. Review and correct bylaws i. Judith Prewitt made a motion to replace"coordinating and promoting" to"encouraging" on page 3. under V. Committees A. Standing Committees 1. Performing Arts. 1. Joe Schenk seconded. 6 commissions opposed and 4 for. Motion did not pass. g.
