The Board and staff recognized Mr. Dykemu/or his years of service on the Board.
VU. Discussion and possible action regarding ISO shipping containers and POD storage containers.
&&' Spcigh/x explained that ISO containers have not been regulated 6v the City and the public
has not 6aenfiDbw/ng the guidelines established/n the UDC. Staff has been talking about on
ordinance that would u8o°//SD containers/o600n the lot year round instead ofxonsovu/which
b allowed 6y the UDC. Mr. Spvig6/ris seeking the Boards help in guidelines that would need W
be set in place in order to keep ISO containers year round. Mr. Francis e.Aplaincd that we would
like to permit the containers so that we can ensure they are being maintained and tied down in

the event of astonu Mr. Martinez wanted to know if the ISO containers had uunique identifier;
if not then harecommended the ISO container.Mr. Dykema wanted to know if there
were any other issues other than the possibility m'the ISO container becoming debris in the event
o/ostorm.Mr. Francis explained that they are blocking the visibility triangle, 6/ock/xg//mlanes
and reducing on-site parking requirements. Mr. Farrar wanted/o know if*e would want the ISO
containers moved tv the event ofustorm.Mr. 6pxights explained that/t would depend nmthe
storm and/f/t was tied down.
VIII. Discussion and possible action regarding the form board survey for new construction.
Mr. Spxights explained that the City of Corpus Christ b the only City ix the State that doesn't
require/6o/onn board survey and that d was required under the 2003 codes. Mr. Spoighm
wanted the Board to know that 6u sent o memo m the Builders Association stating that they would
0e required and got o lot o/puvh back. Mr. Speigh/x wanted/u know that 6u was still going^o
rryumo//hixzurvey.
[X. Discussion of the adopted amendment to the International Energy Conservation Code regarding
energy inspections and third party verification.

/' 20/IMr. Speights explained that there is still a lot of confusion amongst the smaller builders
and that we will 6e working u/educating them. Mr.Dykema wanted/o know munu/ac/umz&nccs
could 6e submitted/x lieu ofo third party inspection.Mr. Snxigh$explained that//wouldn't 8e
possible because the ducts need/o6ctested.
X. Discussion and possible action regarding the requirement ofu\eouiteor wood eating insects
inspection as required by Section R3 IS of the International Residential Code
Mr. Spcig6ts explained that the requirement/xiv the Code but//has not been enforced locally.
Mr. Dykema wanted to know how it affected the safety and health of the public and notjust and

A. Department Updates
Mr. Speights explained that we hired a new Assistant Building Official, Gene Delauro and
that&u/s assisting with the inspectors. Mr. Sne(g6ts also explained that the Department b
looking u/replacing}£DE and some o/the inspec/nr'Strucks.
B. Staffing
Mr. Snoig61v explained that our Chief P/um6/nu/&Yeohonico/Inspector, Steve Van Patten
has left the City o/Corpus Christi and that we are looking u,bringing ox knew inspectors.

Jeni Mori shared that she would 6a serving un the International Existing Building Code and
would share information with the Board//they would like.

XIII. Identify items to be placed on next agenda
Mr. Martinez wanted to look at the windstorm process, more specifically the ease of obtaining a
WP-I where you can state which engineer you would like to use. Mr. Martinez is concerned that
people are using Engineers information to obtain a Rp-1 and not actually retaining the
engineer's services. He would like to look at a possible letter of'intent from the engineer that
would accompany the WP-I at the time of permitting.
