Ill. Discussion and possiblei r i variance to requirements r 1 ,
Article ripertaining construction ii
floodbase I i in a velocity . (Project: Bluff Bay Marina; Location: 101 Skipper
Appellants; David A. Grainger and DarrenSmith.)
On behalf of the lic nt, Murray Hudson gave his presentation on the project timefine and
reason for this request for variance. In 2006, the it requested v toy Analysis on
this project when it was originally su i larger roj t. Based on the results of
is study, the request for variance was approved by the City. Due to financial setbacks, th
original project could not be funded nproject was not started. At this time, the applicant
has rejuvenated this project on a smaller ! it r buildings and is re-submitting
request for variance, in hopes that the previous results of the v toy Analysis and the
Board's previous variance rov 1 will be taken into consideration. This new project consists
of the installation of pr - n i r storage buildings which arenot habitable, no utilities,
no rack storage system. Thesestorage units will only be used for boat storage. The
preliminary flood maps reflect that this area will be removed from i velocity zone.
Julio Dimas — Assistant Director, gave Staffsr nt tion on this item. He stated that
granted variance does not guarantee that FEMA will approve insurance y rage. From the
City's standpoint, we need to go by the current maps, not by the preliminarythat have
not been adopted. t recommendation is to deny this request for variance ba
FEMA's stance compliance. It would be difficult to justify a variance.
Boardmembers discussedapproving this variance based onseveral oit : .) this is
