Hines, Recording Secretary The meeting was called to order by Chairman Braselton at 1:30 p.m. in the staff room behind the Council Chambers on the first floor. The first item of business was roll call. Mr. Dodson • was absent. The next item of business was approval and/or correction of the minutes from the previous meeting (February 27, 2003). Motion made by Mr. Garcia, seconded by Mr. Cotton to approve the minutes as submitted. Passed unanimously. The next item of business was the public hearing for BC 06-02- American Filtration, 601 Lily Street. Mr. Victor Medina presented the appeal requesting a variance to Section 102.7 of the City of Corpus Christi Building Code to get a permit for a manufactured Home to be used as an office space. Mr. Kendall stated there was a similar case that went to this board about two(2) years ago to allow a Mobile Home sale facility to use a unit as a sale office. Question by Mr. Cotton, how would you bring this unit up to code? What are you going to do to make it safe? Comment - Clayton Homes can not say this was certified as a commercial building. Mr. Braselton stated that we need something from the state saying this is ok to be used as an office building. Comment - to Mr. Medina, if you come back with a seal that meets requirement as a commercial building, a variance would not be needed. Motion made by Mr. Cotton to deny the variance because we have no authority in this area due state certification , seconded by Mr. Wheaton. Passed unanimously. The next item of business of business was the Election of Officers. Mr. Skrobarczyk made • the motion to keep all members as is, seconded by Mr. Cotton. Passed unanimously. P.O. Suggestion by Mr. Skrobarczyk that this board opposed having one board. Mr. Garcia made the motion we as a board are in opposition in creating a superboard, seconded by Mr. Skrobarczyk. Comment - Recommendation leave all existing board as they are (electrical, mechanical/plumbing, building code of appeals). Suggestion that we used the same letter as previously submitted by the electrical board. The next item of business was the Building Official Report: Mr. Kendall explained the flow chart to the board, brief summation on the Codes, and Texas Department of Insurance. Mr. Garcia had questions about the codes. The next item of business was discussion of pending and/or old business items. The board asked for an update on the Wilcox Building. Mr. Kendall gave a brief report that the Wilcox Furniture Store had moved the wall and met City Code. The next item of business was petitions from the audience. There was none. • Motion was made by Mr. Cotton, seconded by Mr. Garcia to adjourn the meeting at 2:50 p.m..
