Chairman Bill Braselton called the meeting to order, at 1:33 p.m. The first item of
business was roll call. Ernesto Gonzalez and Johnny Cotten were absent.
Mr. Wheaton asked to be excused for the absence at the previous meeting. Motion to
excuse his absences was made by Mr. Dodson, and seconded by Mr. Garcia. Passed
unanimously.
The next item of business was approval and or correction of the minutes from the
previous meeting (October 23, 2003) Motion made by Jerry Garcia and seconded by Mr.
Dodson to accept the minutes as written. Passed unanimously.
The next items of business was the Building Official Report:
Mr. Alonzo Garza and Julie McCoy filled in for the Building Official's report, since Mr.
Art Sosa was not able to attend the meeting. The Building Code Board of Appeals data
sheet was discussed. The data sheet included information such as the members' terms of
service, the original appointed dates, duties, composition, meeting dates, and authorities.
Chairman Bill Braselton and Jerry Garcia's terms with the board will commence on
May 04,2004. Board appointments will need to be made a few months prior to May 2004.
The January 2004 Building Code Board of Appeals will be an orientation session. The
orientation will cover the duties, authorities, and purposes of the board.
The next item of business was any pending, old, or new items to be put on future
agendas: There were none.

The next item of business was petitions from the audience:
Jeri L. Morey, Architect was present. The reason for her presence at this board was to
gather any feedback or comments regarding a 10yr. long dispute that she has been
involved with. The dispute concerns fire code violations at The Church of the Good
Shepard that dated back to 1994. A formal complaint was given to the former Building
Official, John Kendall earlier this year. Neither, Alonzo Garza or Julie McCoy were
aware of the formal complaint made by Jeri Morey earlier this year.
Jerry Garcia asked that the board members table the discussion until someone brings it to
the committee. The discussion was terminated.
Motion was made by Mr. Braselton to adjourn. The motion was passed unanimously at
1:50 p.m.

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Building Code Board of Appeals of the City of
Corpus Christi will be held Thursday, October 23, 2003, 1:30 p.m. in the Development
Services/Special Services Conference Room, 2406 Leopard (at the Kennedy Street
Entrance)
