MINUTES OF THE BUILDING STANDARDS BOARD
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS

The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman, Rudy Garza, at 1:30 p.m. in the
Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall.
The meeting was opened by informing those that the appropriate notices have been sent
to the property owners and notices published in the newspaper. A visual presentation
showing the condition of each property was conducted by staff. The following are
summaries of action taken by the Board.
1216 Elgin—Main Structure La Paloma Lot 4 Blk. 4
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To allow demolition to the structure due to the
extent of deterioration.

Motion: Motion was made, by Mr. Spiker, seconded by Mr. Hoffman and passed
unanimously to table the case until the May 22, 2003 hearing so that the owner may
speak with City Staff for assistance in repairs.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To allow demolition due to the extent of
deterioration

Motion: Motion was made by Mr. Hoffman, seconded by Ms. Sanjines and passed
unanimously to accept staff recommendation and allow demolition to the structures
according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances
allowing thirty(30) days to obtain a permit and thirty(30) days to complete the
demolition of the property located at 804 Francesca, San Pedro,Lot 57,Block 3. If
demolition is not started and completed as required, the city be authorized to demolish.

Motion: Motion was made by Mr. Hoffman seconded by Ms. Sanjines and passed
unanimously to accept staff recommendation and allow demolition to the structure
according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances
allowing thirty(30) days to obtain a permit and thirty(30) days to complete the
demolition of the property located at 218 Havana, Coronado,Lot 8,Block 9. If
demolition is not started and completed as required,the City be authorized to demolish.

Motion: Motion was made by Mr. Hoffman, seconded by Ms. Sanjines and passed
unanimously to accept staff recommendation and allow repairs to the structures according
to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (a) of the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances allowing thirty
(30) days to obtain a permit and sixty (60) days to complete the repairs to City Code
standards for the property located at 3615 Lawnview, PA Cliffs, Lots 24-26, Block 616.
If repairs are not started and completed as required,the City be authorized to demolish.

Motion: Motion was made by Ms. Sanjines, seconded by Mr. Spiker and passed
unanimously to amend staff recommendation and allow demolition to the structure
according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances
allowing thirty(30) days to obtain a permit and one hundred eighty (180) days to
complete the demolition of the property located at 1621 Mary, Steele & Laughlin,W/2
of Lot 4,All of Lots 5 & 6. If demolition is not started and completed as required, the
city be authorized to demolish

allowing thirty(30) days to obtain a permit and thirty(30) days to complete the
demolition of the property located at 1137 Oberste, Flour Bluff Center,Lot 13,Block
2. If demolition is not started and completed as required, the City be authorized to
demolish

allowing thirty(30) days to obtain a permit and thirty(30) days to complete the

allowing thirty(30) days to obtain a permit and thirty(30) days to complete the
demolition of the property located at 2910 Summers,Nueces Bay Heights, Lot AZ
Block 11. If demolition is not started and completed as required, the city be authorized
to demolish

unanimously to accept the staff recommendation and allow demolition to the structures
according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances
allowing thirty(30) days to obtain a permit and sixty(60) days to complete the
demolition of the property located at 1642 Tarlton, Copps,Lot 1. If demolition is not
started and completed as required, the city be authorized to demolish

Motion: Motion was made by Mr. Hoffman, seconded by Ms. Sanjines and passed
unanimously not to reverse the board decision of May 24, 2001 and allow demolition to
the garage according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances allowing thirty (30) days to obtain a permit and thirty(30) days to complete
the demolition of the property located at 133 Atlantic,Del Mar,E/2 of Lot 19 & all of
Lot 20,Block 2. If demolition is not started and completed as required, the city be
authorized to demolish

Motion: Motion was made by Mr. Hoffman, seconded by Ms. Sanjines and passed
unanimously to not reverse the board decision of May 24, 2001 and allow demolition to
the garage according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances allowing thirty(30) days to obtain a permit and thirty(30) days to complete
the demolition of the property located at 450 Cole,Del Mar,Lot 13,Block 24. If
demolition is not started and completed as required, the city be authorized to demolish.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to the extent of
Deterioration

Motion: Motion was made by Mr. Spiker, seconded by Mr. Hoffman and passed
unanimously to reverse the board decision of May 28, 1998 and allow repairs to the
structure according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (a) of the Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances allowing thirty (30) days to obtain a permit and sixty(60) days to complete
the repairs to city code standards of the property located at 661 Robert,Alameda Park
Lot 18,Block 4. If repairs are not started and completed as required, the city be
authorized to demolish
