I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Gregory Spivey at 12:00 p.m. in the
Council Chambers, on the first floor of City Hall.
II. ROLL CALL
Board Members Present
Chairman Gregory Spivey, David Amori, Renee Carter, John Smith, Ted Stephens
Board Members Absent
Vice-Chairman Jesus J. Jimenez, Frank Hastings
The absence of Board Member Renee Carter from the Regular Meeting of March
30, 2006 was excused by the Chairman.

III. MINUTES
A motion was made by John Smith, and seconded by David'Amori, to approve the
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 30, 2006. A roll call vote was taken and
the motion passed.
IV. STAFF REPORT
Teena Houston delivered a staff report to the Board to update them on the status
of the cases presented at the Regular Meeting of March 30, 2006.

V. NEW BUSINESS
A motion to open the meeting to public hearing was made by Chairman Gregory
Spivey, and seconded by John Smith. Roll call vote was taken and the motion
passed.
A. New cases presented to the Board for discussion and possible action.
1. 2901Ada (Harlem Park, Lot 1, Block 6)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to the
extent of deterioration
APPEARING IN FAVOR: 0
APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by Chairman Gregory Spivey, seconded by
Renee Carter, to accept staff recommendations and require demolition to
the structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of
Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to
demolish the structure(s) located at 2901 Ada (Harlem Park, Lot 1, Block
.)and if demolition is started, an additional thirty (30) days be allowed to
complete the demolition. If demolition is not started and completed as
required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call vote was
taken and the motion passed unanimously.
2. 2905 Ada (Harlem Park, Lot 2, Block 6)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to the
extent of deterioration
APPEARING IN FAVOR: 0
APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee
Carter, to accept staff recommendations and require demolition to the
structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of Corpus
Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to demolish the
structure(s) located at 2905 Ada (Harlem Park, Lot 2, Block 6) and if
demolition is started, an additional thirty (30) days be allowed to complete

extent of deterioration

APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by Chairman Gregory Spivey, seconded by
John Smith, to accept staff recommendations and require demolition to the
structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of Corpus
Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to demolish the
structure(s) located at 2905 Blake Residence (Blake Middle, East 50 feet x
137 feet of Lot 9) and if demolition is started, an additional thirty (30) days
be allowed to complete the demolition. If demolition is not started and
completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call
vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
4. 2905 Blake Detached Storage (Blake Middle, East 50 feet x 137 feet
of Lot 9)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to the
extent of deterioration

APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by Chairman Gregory Spivey, seconded by
David Amori, to accept staff recommendations and require demolition to
the structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of
Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to
demolish the structure(s) located at 2905 Blake Detached Storage (Blake
Middle, East 50 feet x 137 feet of Lot 9) and if demolition is started, an
additional thirty (30) days be allowed to complete the demolition. If
demolition is not started and completed as required, then the City is
authorized to demolish. A roll call vote was taken and the motion passed
unanimously.

5. 3005 Carver (Reynolds, Lot 14, Block C)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to the
extent of deterioration
APPEARING IN FAVOR: 0
APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by John Smith, seconded by Chairman
Gregory Spivey, to amend staff recommendations and require demolition
to the structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of
Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to
demolish the structure(s) located at 3005 Carver ( Reynolds, Lot 14, Block
Q and if demolition is started, an additional thirty (30) days be allowed to
complete the demolition. If demolition is not started and completed as
required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call vote was
taken and the motion passed unanimously.
6. 3005 Greenwood (El Rey Add, Lot, 17, Block 6)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to the
extent of deterioration
APPEARING IN FAVOR: Adan Lugo
APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by David Amori, seconded by Chairman
Gregory Spivey, to accept staff recommendations and require demolition
to the structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of
Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to
demolish the structure(s) located at 3005 Greenwood (El Rev Add, Lot 17,
Block 6) and if demolition is started, an additional thirty (30) days be
allowed to complete the demolition. If demolition is not started and
completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call
vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
7. 2406 John (Shoreline PK, Lot 7, Block 2)

Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Renee
Carter, to accept staff recommendations and require demolition to the
structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of Corpus
Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to demolish the
structure(s) located at 2406 John (Shoreline PK, Lot 7, Block 2) and if
demolition is started, an additional thirty (30) days be allowed to complete
the demolition. If demolition is not started and completed as required,
then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call vote was taken and the
motionpassed unanimously.
8. 2745 Lawton (Harlem Park, Lot 12, Block 5)

extent of deterioration

Motion: A motion was made by Chairman Gregory Spivey, seconded by
David Amori, to accept staff recommendations and require demolition to
the structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of
Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to
demolish the structure(s) located at 2745 Lawton (Harlem Park, Lot 12,
Block 5) and if demolition is started, an additional thirty (30) days be
allowed to complete the demolition. If demolition is not started and
completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call
vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
9. 669 Osage Residence (Vogart, Lot 22)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to the
extent of deterioration

accept staff recommendations and require demolition to the structure(s)

Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to
demolish the structure(s) located at 669 Osage Detached Storage Shed
(Vogart, Lot 22) and if demolition is started, an additional thirty (30)days
be allowed to complete the demolition. If demolition is not started and
completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call
vote was taken and the motion passed.unanimously.
11. 2224 N. Port (Hatch John G, Lots 1 to 3 Southwest half of Lot 4 and
North 5 feet of Lots 7 to 10, Block 1)

Motion: A motion was made by John Smith, seconded by David Amori, to
accept staff recommendations and require demolition to the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code
of Ordinances in which the owner be required to demolish the structure(s)
located at 2224 N. Port (Hatch John G, Lots 1 to 3 Southwest half of Lot 4
and North 5 feet of Lots 7 to 10, Block 1) and if demolition is started, an
additional thirty (30) days be allowed to complete the demolition. If
demolition is not started and completed as required, then the City is

Motion: A motion was made by David Amori, seconded by Chairman
Gregory Spivey, to accept staff recommendations and require demolition
to the structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (c) of the City of
Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be required to
demolish the structure(s) located at 1621 Sherman (Chula Vista, Lot 39,
Block 4) and if demolition is started, an additional thirty (30) days be
allowed to complete the demolition. If demolition is not started and
completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A roll call
vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Chairman Gregory Spivey, seconded by John Smith, to call
the meeting to recess at 12:41 p.m. The meeting reconvened at 12:54 p.m.
13. 1605 Sherman (Chula Vista, Lot 43, Block 4)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to the
extent of deterioration
APPEARING IN FAVOR: Michael Ford
APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by Chairman Gregory Spivey, seconded by
John Smith, to amend staff recommendations and allow repair to the
structure(s) according to Section 13-26 (G), (1), (a) of the City of Corpus
Christi Code of Ordinances in which the owner be allowed forty-five (45)
days to obtain a permit and begin repairs to the structure(s) located at
1605 Sherman (Chula Vista, Lot 43, Block 4) and if repairs are started, an
additional ninety (90) days be allowed to complete the repairs. If repairs
are not started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to
demolish. A roll call vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.

VI. BOARD REPORT
No Board Report was given during this meeting.
VII. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Building Standards Board,
Chairman Gregory Spivey adjourned the Hearing at 1:06 p.m. on May 25, 2006.
