I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Jesus Jimenez at 1:08 p.m.
in the Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall.

The absence of Board Member Renee Carter of the Regular Meeting of March
26, 2009 was considered and excused.

III. MINUTES
A motion was made by Jesus Jimenez, and seconded by Frank Hastings to
approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 26, 2009.
A roll call vote was taken and the motion passed.

Staff Report presented to the Board for their information regarding cases
for 2005-2009.
V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion and possible action to adopt Board procedures and rules of
conduct.
Motion: A motion was made by Frank Hastings, seconded by Greg
Perkes to accept the Building Standards Board procedures and rules of
conduct as discussed. A roll call vote was taken and the motion passed.
B. Discussion and possible action to consider the Board's status to remain
as a Board or become a Commission.
Motion: A motion was made by Jesus Jimenez, seconded by Robert White
directing staff to prepare a draft to be presented to City Council requesting the
Board to become a Commission. A roll call vote was taken. Board member Ted
Stephens opposed. The motion passed with a majority vote.
VI. NEW BUSINESS
1. 2412 Coleman Ave. residence (Summit Addn, Lots 15 & 16 Block 5)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration
APPEARING IN FAVOR: 0
APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by Frank Hastings, seconded by Renee Carter,
to accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 2412
Coleman Ave. residence (Summit Addn., Lots 15 & 16 Block 5). If the
demolition is not started and completed as required, then the City is
authorized to demolish. A roll call vote was taken and passed unanimously.
2. 4733 Hakel Dr. residence (Mahan Acres, Lot 5A Block 2)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To grant repairs due to
the extent of deterioration

APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by Robert White, seconded by Frank Hastings
to accept staff recommendations to allow repairs to the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (a) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain the
proper permits and start repairs to the structure(s) located at 4733 Hakel
Dr. residence (Mahan Acres, Lot 5A Block 2) and if repairs are started,
an additional sixty (60) days be allowed to complete the repairs. If repairs
are not started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to
demolish. A roll call vote was taken. Board member Ted Stephens opposed.
The motion passed with a majority vote.
3. 4733 Hakel Dr. detached garage (Mahan Acres Lot 5A Block 2)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration

Motion: A motion was made by Robert White, seconded by Renee Carter, to
accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 4733 Hakel
Dr. detached_garage (Mahan Acres, Lot 5A Block 2). If the demolition is
not started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to
demolish. A roll call vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
4. 2314 Morris St. residence (Patrick Webb, Lot 24 Block 10)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration

Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Frank Hastings,
to accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of

Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 2314
Morris St. residence (Patrick Webb, Lot 24 Block 10). If the demolition is
not started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to
demolish. A roll call vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.
5. 2609 Niagara Dr. storage shed(Woodcrest Heights, Lot 15 Block 1)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration
APPEARING IN FAVOR: 0
APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by Ted Stephens, seconded by Jesus Jimenez,
to accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 2609
Niagara Dr. storage shed (Woodcrest Heights, Lot 15 Block 1). If the
demolition is not started and completed as required, then the City is
authorized to demolish. A roll call vote was taken and the motion passed
unanimously.
6. 434 Wilma Dr. residence (Brentwood Village, Lot 12 Block 3)
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To require demolition due to
the extent of deterioration
APPEARING IN FAVOR: 0
APPEARING IN OPPOSITION: 0
Motion: A motion was made by Frank Hastings, seconded by Gregory Perkes,
to accept staff recommendations and require demolition of the structure(s)
according to Section 13-26 (G) (1) (c) of the City of Corpus Christi Code of
Ordinances in which the owner be allowed thirty (30) days to obtain proper
permits and complete the demolition of the structure(s) located at 434 Wilma
Dr. residence (Brentwood Village, Lot 12 Block 3). If the demolition is not
started and completed as required, then the City is authorized to demolish. A
roll call vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.

Consensus of the Board to submit recommendations to City Council for re-
appointment of the following board members: Frank Hastings, and Ted
Stephens.

A motion was made by Jesus Jimenez, seconded by Frank Hastings to adjourn
the hearing at 3:07 p.m. on May 28, 2009. A roll call vote was taken and the
motion passed unanimously.
